"Beware of old tires being sold as new. I purchased 2 new tires for my trailer from smalltires.com on 7/12/2009. Tires have about 3000 miles on them and have been filled to the recommended pressure of 50 psi within 24 hours of each of the 11 trips on them. I had one explode on 3/04/2012 at 60 MPH. I had a local tire store do a quick inspection and they found no evidence of the tire running hot nor was their any puncture marks anywhere to be found on the tire. I contacted the tire manufacturer and they had me look at the DOT code. It turns out the tires I purchased new in July 2009 were manufactured during the 39th week of 2007. I contacted smalltires.com to address my concerns of them selling me nearly 2 year old tires as new. Their response was they are allowed to sell tires with a manufacturing date within 5 years but strive to sell them less than 3. They attributed it to the 6 months that the tires spend on the boat from China. Since most trailer experts recommend replacing trailer tires every 5 years, my nearly new tires were 1/2 way there before I ever got them. For a company that states "At Smalltires.com, we want to be known for our superior customer service" they fell far short of my expectations."
