"This company is bogus. I order a new motherboard for a HP DV9000 laptop with UPS Ground shipping. I received a tracking number within hours of ordering only to see for about a week that the package had never been received by UPS. I sent an inquiry to Skyline Engineering Inc requesting information and got an email back saying that they think it was a back-ordered item, that they weren't sure. I then called their business number and spoke to the worst customer service guy in history. He went to shuffling around saying that the item was coming to them today from another company, to he could give me free shipping or upgrade my shipping, to he could cancel my order and that it was up to me that 'he didn't care'! He then hung up in my face when I said to refund my money to my account. All I could say was wow! Please don't waste your time with this Skyline Engineering Inc. I definitely won't do it again. Lying about having items in stock on website. Lying about shipping to customers. Unrealistically rude to a customer over the phone. Bad business practices equals no customers."

"I bought online an Acer motherboard from Skyline Engineering on February 2012. However, the new motherboard didn't detect my laptop's battery. When I reported this I received the following message from Scott Mathison representing Skyline Engineering Inc:

"We have not had that problem with these boards. The board was fully tested and working before we shipped it. It did recognize our battery."

Thinking that it could be a battery problem, I tried a couple of different technicians and they all said it was a motherboard problem. So I explained again the situation to Scott and asked: "What happened with the battery light when you tested [the motherboard] with the battery on?" and then he wrote the following:

"I'm not the technician that tested it. There is a chance it was tested without a battery and therefore we would not have noticed the problem. You can return the board for another round of testing. If it's bad we will replace the board."

Please notice that at this point there is a contradiction: First Scott said the motherboard was tested and it “did recognize [their] battery” and then he said “there [was] a chance it was tested without a battery.” If he had admitted this I could have saved some money and avoided several trips to different local technicians.

Returning the motherboard gave me another surprise, Skyline Engineering Inc’s warranty says that the customer has to pay for the shipping costs even if the product is defective (Now I avoid buying from companies with similar policies). The customer also has a 15-day period to return it. Because of the remote place I'm temporarily living right now, I had to pay a more expensive shipping service to return the defective motherboard to Skyline Engineering Inc.

After a week Skyline Engineering Inc. received the motherboard and I didn't hear back from them, I emailed Scott. He didn’t reply, one more week later I emailed him again. This time he said the following:

“The board you sent back was defective. Something to do with the battery light and the battery not being detected. We did not have a replacement for it so we gave you a full refund of $295.70.”

I checked my bank account and the money had been reimbursed about two weeks before, I just hadn’t received any notification from Skyline Engineering Inc. They did give me a full refund of what I paid them, but what about the shipping cost I paid? What about my trips to the nearest bigger city and the costs and time I spent visiting computer technicians that checked out my laptop with the defective motherboard? What about the two months without a functional motherboard? What about all the work that I needed to do during this time?

I even checked out the motherboard's page few times in different dates and they were still advertising it (they had told me they didn't have a replacement), and instead of 249 USD, it was advertised in 199 USD at the date of this post.

You may judge and decide whether you buy from Skyline Engineering Inc. or not, but I certainly do not recommend it. I don't recommend buying from any company that doesn't give you a full warranty that includes shipping costs. In conclusion, I did not have a positive experience.
