Purchased TV warranty but get runaround

"I spent $2,998. on a Sony 75 inch and purchased another $259. for a 5 year in house warranty. I called Shop Smart TV's to ask about the service contract and they told me to contact another company that has the service plan on my TV. I called and they couldn't find any policy for me. I asked Shop Smart if they could find where they purchased a 5 year contract for my purchase. My receipt shows I paid $259.99 for the 5 year. I had to wait on hold over a half hour more than once on their customer service line. They gave me the run around. If they purchased my warranty they should have a record of their purchase for my tv. They said they would do more research. They never got back to me. I feel they didn't purchase a warranty. They would have gotten a warranty number if they did and have record of it. I think they just scammed me out of $259,99 "

I got the Bait & Switch - Save yourself the headache!

"As other reviewers have mentioned, they advertise unbelievably low prices. After purchasing a TV, I get a call from a sales rep telling me that I bought the Canadian version instead of US and there will be interface issues, etc.

Of course, I shelled out the extra $400 for the US version and also got talked into an extended warranty from a 3rd party company they partner with. ShopsmartTV never gave me a revised receipt for the more expensive TV and no surprise, just one year later my TV is having issues and the warranty company won't help because I don't have the receipt. Despite reaching out to ShotSmartTV.com 5+ times, nobody there will send me a copy of the invoice/receipt with the info the warranty company needs and I'm stuck with a $2,000 TV that isn't functioning properly.

Save yourself the headache and money and go with a well known retailer. You're going to pay full price anyway after these guys pull the bait and switch on you - so you might as well get it from a reliable company that stands behind their product.

If its too good to be true, its probably isn't true. Safe yourself a headache and go somewhere else

"I wish i had read other people comments of bait-and-switch... as this was exactly my experience.

I ordered a 65" Samsung for a seemingly fantastic price.

It has taken 5 days to confirm my order (longer than the 1-3 days promised). Granted they had a huge snow storm during this time, but still I think a short email saying they are delayed would be helpful.

After 5 days, I received an email asking me to call them. On the call they informed me I had actually ordered a lower spec version (like a Chinese knock-off) of the TV (Even though the website listed the retail model number and specs).

Next they informed me that to order the "Best Buy" version, the price was $400 more (i.e. the same price that Best Buy was charging).

I declined to play this game and asked to cancel my order (which they did promptly to their credit).

Just hope to make other people aware of these tactics.

Love my Sony

"I shopped around for my Sony XBR75X850C for about 3-4 months. Shopsmart TV's gave me the best price and service. Mark, my sales guy was especially helpful. I had reservations about purchasing from them due to all the negative comments, but they came through. They gave me a great deal on the TV I wanted and it arrived at my door within a week. The only issue was with the delivery company who missed the first delivery date and then rescheduled. But otherwise, the experience was fantastic. I would definetly recommend them to others."

"I made an order online and two days later I got an email notification that it was cancelled. I called in to find out what happened and Steven was very rude. He did not introduce himself when he answered and while I was trying to explain what happened, he cut me off. When I asked to speak with a manager, he hung up on me. I thought it would be a positive experience but now I wish I never tried to buy through shopsmarttv.com "

"Purchased 70" Sony online - they asked for a review of their service before I even checked out. A short while later I was contacted and told the model I purchased was "out of stock", despite their site showing otherwise, and still showing it after the fact. They claimed this was a "commercial" model I had ordered and tried to charge me more money for a fictional "residential" version of the same model that allegedly allows you to update apps and has a better panel. Sony doesn't do that and never has, so I canceled my order. This company behaves deceptively from beginning to after the sale. 10/20/2015 After I canceled my order with Steven 10/15/2015, I got a call from Ryan, asking me what could be done to correct the problem. I told him to complete order as place originally. Ryan has been working with me to get my order shipped out as promised. Thanks to Ryan saved a customer! Got tracking information for AM Trucking 10/19/2015. Estimated Due Date 10/30/2015. Thank you Ryan for you great customer service."
