"Summary:
Bad communications
Untested product sold as working (large products ex: servers)
My Experience:
Please keep in mind this is my experience with this seller. This seller sells many small products on eBay like hard drives and storage controllers and has gathered a good rating by doing this. Unfortunately I took this to mean that they were a good seller and did all the things associated with a good seller.
I purchased a large 3Ware Palisade 100 1U rack mount IP storage array from this seller through an eBay auction and paid for it. About a week and a half later it hadn't arrived and I contacted them multiple times by email spread over three week days and when I finally did get a reply it was a note to call them in their office in California, long distance. I called them long distance and was told that they had to order memory for the palisade because it was missing it, and it would ship out the next day. In return for the troubles they sent it UPS 2 day air at their expense.
I received the palisade a couple days later as expected but found that it had been damaged in shipping because it wasn't packaged properly. Also the palisade was missing the gigabit Ethernet controller that comes standard on these devices. I emailed them and then called them the next day, the person I talked to was apologetic and shipped me the parts next day air.
I received the parts the next day and fixed the palisade. Unfortunately the palisade would not stay running and appeared to crash shortly after being turned on. I sent a series of emails to select computer detailing exactly what was happening and what I was doing troubleshooting wise. (I repair and build computers part time to put myself through grad school) I never received a reply to any of these emails. I called 3ware and discussed the problem with them and they recommended that I forget about using a Palisade at all because it's completely unsupported now. They did however answer my questions about troubleshooting and concluded that there was something wrong with the palisade, probably in the area of the software of the unit as that's why they discontinued the product.
I again emailed select computer and told them I need an RMA and an address confirmation to return the product. Two days later when they hadn't replied I called in and talked to the secretary whom knew exactly what I was talking about after I mentioned who I was, so I know someone was reading my emails and just not sending a reply. She issued a pick up tag through UPS and they will come and get it.
Basically the product was incomplete and untested when the listed it for sale. When they did get the parts for it and shipped it to me it was not checked to be complete and packaged incorrectly. They have also been incredibly bad in the communication department."
