"The email I sent to Rugged Outfitters below says it all:

Jen, Kelley & Tara,

I have to tell you that our experience with your company was not what we expected after meeting your rep at the ISS show in Orlando this past September. Your customer service is barely existent save Pete who has been the only one we’ve been able to reach the times we’ve called your business to get any kind of updates.

There’s definitely some disorganization from the very beginning where no one knew about our order placed via online, our vendor application not being found and having to fax it again; us having to call to get an order confirmation and still until today not being notified that our order had still not shipped.

Please cancel our current order and do not charge our credit card. Thank you.

"My experience is the same as most of the others; glacially slow shipment and non-existant customer service. I pushed the "submit" button on a Friday evening, and a week later, the order was in "UPS Shipment label was created", as it had been for 24 hours.
Here is what I think is going on: Rugged Outfitters exists, but as a small retail store. One or two guys created a big fancy internet site which they operate out of a building in an alley in Bergenfield, and use it to get the merchandise from the store or re-order it. It's a third party broker. That's why, I think, they don't answer the phone, and that's why they maintain a twenty-foot wall between their customers and their "customer service". The "process" of the order, which you placed instantaneously when you paid for it, I think, is actually them re-ordering what you ordered. So they delay you to death, pretending that it's all just their "process".

I advise all potential customers to avoid this one. So many are so much better.

"This is one of the worst companies to order from! I wish I would have read all the complaints before I ordered.
I have tried contacting this company over 30 times and always received a answering machine but was unable to leave a message...what kind of company has that kind of phone sytem? And then I sent several emails and then when I emailed them and told them I was contacting the Better Business Bureau, I finally received an email from them and it stated that what I purchased was out of stock. GEE? Why did it take that long for them to tell me that...I keep asking for them to call me and they have still not called me. I will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. You would think that they would try to make customers happy, but they sure don't!

"I created an account just to leave this review. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY. Read the other reviews. Customer service is non-existent. Any information you might actually manage to pry out this company will be empty promises and lies.

I ordered a number of items, all of which were supposedly in stock. It took 42 days to receive my items despite several promises that my order would be shipping "today" during that period. It was pretty awesome showing up for Christmas with the family completely empty handed.

"This company is HORRIBLE! DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM!!!! You have been warned! I have spent hours on the phone with them and still no service. I ordered a coat on December 5th and after 8 emails and 6 phone calls,(promising me they'd send it 3-day UPS delivery) I am notified by UPS that it is being sent GROUND and will not arrive until the 29th! They sure were glad to take my money - but I STILL have no PRODUCT!!!"

"I think this website is amazing. I placed my order and received it 4 days after it was placed.
Thats really fast in my opinion. There prices are the lowest you can find anywhere for boots and Carhatt. They offered me free freight, so Im not sure why the other review says jackedup freight charges. I would definitely order from this site all the time.

"I ordered two items in late november that were to be Christmas gifts. Items were not flagged as out of stock. After not recieving a shipping confirmation, I tried to contact the company who will not answer their phone or call back. They will eventually email you back only to give you false dates about when your item will ship. It will ship by Dec. 14th I was told, then it will be there by Christmas, then so sorry it will be early January, then Jan. 14th. Needless to say I have still not recieved my order. Twice I've called their corporate store to be told that a manager would call me back which they never have. Do not order from this company...you will probably never get your stuff."

"Ordered on 29th. Was told by the site it would ship in 2-3 business days. Inquired on the 3rd about the status of the order, was told that due to holiday volume the order would ship on the 8th, this seemed reasonable to me.

By the 10th I still had not received a confirmation email with my tracking number. I sent another inquiry. Rugged did not respond that day. Today, the 11th I sent in another inquiry. An hour after I sent the email I called thier "service" number. The voice mail said that they would not return any messages "due to volume". I left a message with my order number and stated that I would be calling thier corporate line and "get a little nasty" if I did not receive a reponse.

2 minutes later I was greeted with this reply in my inbox:

" DUE TO HIGH VOLUME AND TIME OF YEAR, YOUR ORDER WILL SHIP ON OR AROUND 7-10 BD FROM TIME THE ORDER WAS PLACED. TRACKING INFO WILL BE EMAILED ONCE IT SHIPS.

****@****
***-***-****"

I responded in my own way that thier response was not appropriate and cancelled my order.

In my opinion this company blows.
