"I ordered the sun lense for the Eclipse; but as we were in the process of moving, the telescope was at the new house and the lens was delivered to the old house where we would be staying for the Eclipse. When we setup for the Eclipse, we foundout it was .25 inches too small and the felt pads were missing. It was very disappointing. I had even double checked to make sure we had the right lens for our telescope and according to the description we did. I have yet to ask about a refund as this is no longer a priority as I am unpacking and doing other things associated with the move."

We watched the eclipse on the patio of a bar&grill and many people came by to checkout our view, which was incredible during the stages of the solar eclipse with the filter on. "Bought a Meade 12” LX850 OTA. Had asked a question about a a rather large gap between the dovetail and OTA the day after receiving it. Exactly 30 days after receipt I received a reply saying sorry for the delay but it was normal. I get it, they don’t want it returned. Still have cloudy skies so not sure if there is an issue. It’s now a warranty issue with Meade if something is wrong.

Was looking at solar scopes the other day. Looked at the Coronado’s but went with a Lunt instead. Hopefully the Meade is fine, but after this stunt, I wasn’t going to buy another Meade until I know the one I have is fine…"

"I bought a Celestron AVX mount to use with my Meade 8" Newtonian. I also bought the optional GPS device.
Took the scope out and did the initial alignment then told it to go to a particular object and it was way off, easily 30 degrees or more. I checked the values the mount had stored for time and location, and they were way off. The power light on the GPS device was lit so why didn't the mount have the correct time and location?
Long story short, you have to go into the mounts settings menu and turn the GPS device on so the mount knows it's there. From the home screen press the Menu key then use the up and down arrows to select "Utilities" (press Enter), "Turn on-off GPS" (Press Enter).
By the way, the AVX mount works very well and I'm happy with it and have no complaints."

"I bought the Orion-Brand filter for my Orion telescope thinking it would be certain to fit, and at the price point, i expected something more durable than a thin film filter. The filter os bigger than necessary and uses 3 screws to affix it to the barrel and it's just a film filter. I was also charged $58.72 CAD in unforseen brokerage charges on my $173.28 CAD ($124.29 USD) filter. I could have got this quality from K&F off Amazon for ~$30 CAD, delivered next day. There is nothing special about this filter."
