"I received a NakedWines.com $100 voucher from a purchase at another Website. I looked at the site, read how it worked and initially it looked like a great idea. Having wine directly from winemakers made me think that the Uber concept had arrived in the wine market. Pure deception. When I tried to use the voucher I realized that it was just a clever hook to the site $40 monthly subscription program, Even when I tried to use the $100 to purchase wine without subscribing I realized that the site was very well planned, with the proper mechanisms, to make you, in the worst case scenario for the sellers, pretty much buy unknown wine for probably more than than it's worthy. It probably works with a lot of people who feel the need to belong to feel special. It's similar to what happens with some Harley-Davidson and Apple customers but those get actually a decent product and no obligations to keep buying from the same source, not some overpriced wine, supposedly created by some obscure winemaker and that you can't find anywhere else. I'm not surprised that it works for the average American, who orders wine as "cab" or "pee-no-no-are", thinking it's sophisticated. Last but not least, I mentioned that NakedWine Marketing is aggressive. They watch review sites like this one and I'm sure they will feed 4-5 starts reviews. Also they will keep hitting you with Marketing until, hopefully, you unsubscribe from their communication, which I inadvertently was included in during subscription and it can include Email, SMS, Facebook, Twitter and even Geolocation. For now I will stick with TotalWine.com, where you have a massive variety of real wines to chose from, real reviews and you're not obligated to put 6 bottles in the basket or send them $40 a month. "
