"Without a doubt the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

I placed my order on 21/05/2010 and had an email within a couple of hours to tell me that my order had been processed and shipped. By the end of the week there was no sign of it so I contacted mapandcompassoutdoors.com and they informed me it would be with me by the end of the week. I enquired about a tracking number and was told that it had been sent using a ‘road service’ and they had no tracking number, just delivery confirmation when/if the item was eventually delivered. I enquired further to attain more information on the ‘road service’ but they were very reluctant to give me any.
They claimed that because of the ash cloud it was the only way to guarantee delivery…. So I waited and waited and nothing appeared. Yet again I contacted them to ask for a refund and was told I couldn’t get one as the order had been dispatched and if I was to send it back they would charge a restocking fee and postage. Again I was reassured that I would receive the order shortly.

Needless to say I received nothing from them. In my final email I resorted to demanding a refund or I would be contacting my bank to ‘Chargeback’ the transaction as well as leaving negative reviews and after five days I was eventually refunded. According to the email, my order was ‘recalled’; I am amazed how they were able to recall an order that apparently had no tracking number.
I tried ringing them but never received an answer from a human…. always the answer machine. It took seven emails and plenty of my time to get this sorted. Their customer service is shoddy and their attitude to their customers is not what I would expect from a company these days.

Overall, just a experience that has left a very nasty taste. Personally I would AVOID mapandcompassoutdoors.com at all costs, and I’m not the only one (see below)
Oh, and they also operate under another name of climbbikehike.co.uk. Be warned
