"Warning to potential customers and those trying to contact LightingOnTheNet.com Sorry to report I just received a notice of ***CHAPTER 7 BANKRUPTCY***

2/22/09 - Order placed 2/22/09, credit card charged right away.

3/23 - Part of my order actually arrived. No answer despite several e-mails and phone calls (unable to leave message or speak to anyone) about the rest of the order.

4/9 - Kilcher (manufacturer of part I was trying to buy) verified (and was very apologetic) that LightingOnTheNet.com did not seem to still be in business.

4/27 – Received notice in mail. “Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy” filed 4/21 in US Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of New York. Case number is 8-09-72751-ast. Court is in Central Islip, NY, ***-***-****. Hearing date is May 20, 2009 at 10AM.

"Having placed multiple orders w/ Lighting on the Net & recieving 2 out of 17 fixtures I do concur w/ the reviews as posted. As well, with the help of my credit card company I did locate another identity for their firm which is DF Lighting, out of NY ***-***-****. After tracing that a bit I ended up w/ the subsiderary firm Donguan Lighting and as you probably guessed...based out of China.
So..that being said and the fact that the firm has inevitably "closed for inventory..permanently"
if you paid via AMEX, they are already aware of the situation and I would bet that they will be reimbursing your account accordingly, as they did for me.

"Same as the rest of the reviews. ordered 3 hard to find lightbulbs on March 3. They didn't tell me that they wouldn't ship until March 24th until after I paid for them. Since then can't contact them and now have to get my money back from the credit card company. What a haze. On a side note accidentally contacted lightingdirect.com and they were very nice and even tried to find a working phone number for me. Next time I'll probably deal with them."

"Have been ordering stuff online for years and have never had a problem. Ordered $171 in lighting from this company on 3/3/09. Never shipped. Tried to call every day for the last 23 days only get a "closed for inventory" message. No response to emails. No response to fax. I have lots of time and money and will not just forget this. I have already been in contact with numerous consumer fraud organizations and I don't care how much I have to spend taking them to court. I hope the rest of you folks that got ripped off are not going to let them get away with this! It's the right thing to do to fight these crooks. "

"We order 2 bath vanity lights for a total of $324 and were told the lights would ship in 10 days. Our card was charged the same day we order -March 10th and as of 1 month later still no light nor a refund. The phone messages still says "closed for inventory" and their website is now down. Emails are not return with any information regarding shipping, orders or credits.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!

"I ordered a Kichler undercounter fixture on Feb 15. My credit card was charged that same day, but the order was not shipped and the firm would not respond to repeated voice mail messages and e-mails. Their site said to expect shipment in 12 working days. My previous two orders back in 2007 and before arrived with no problems. I had no alternative but to have my credit card charge back the order amount. My advice: shop elsewhere."

"I placed an order for a Currey and Company chandelier on March 5, 2009 and was told it would ship on March 18, 2009. I began calling Lightingonthenet last week, and every time I get a message stating that they are "closed due to inventory." I contacted Currey directly and was told they have ceased shipping all orders on this account and to dispute the charge. What a headache! Do not order from these people! "

"Believe it when you read this company is not to be trusted. After placing my order, my card was charged and I never received my merchandise. After several emails, all unanswered, and calls to a number that always said,"your call could not be completed as dialed", I contacted my credit card company and initiated a chargeback. "I placed an order for a $148.50 6 Light Chandelier on Feb. 12, 2009. My credit card was charged that same day. It is now March 11, 2009. I never received my order and like previous reviews no one picks up the telephone during business hours. The order status on their website says cancelled but I have not received a refund. This company is terrible - order at your own risk."
