"After asking several questions over the course of a week about a custom laptop computer (JSC-849-ILAP), I finally placed an order. Later that day I received this message:
"This model has just been discontinued. However, we can offer you an even better deal: a 15.4” Wide-Screen notebook w/ the same specs AT THE SAME PRICE! Let me know if this would be OK with you, or if you wish to cancel your order. I have attached some detailed info on this new model. Let me know as soon as possible. This order has been put on hold pending your decision."
The replacement model turned out to have a shorter battery life (1/2 hour less) and weigh 1.7 pounds more. Since I did not feel that an extra .4" of screen compensated for this, and because I suspected some sort of bait-and-switch, I cancelled the order. They replied, "It [sic] your loss." Hardly professional.
I can't say whether they are engaged in shady business practices, but they certainly inspired no confidence in me."
