DO NOT USE ONLINE

"I like the Brick & Morter but the ONLINE experience was horrible in BOTH instances I tried. There will NEVER again be a third for me. Both orders they "filled" LATE and with the WRONG items. In both cases they sent me an inferior model (same manufacturer) that could not meet my needs. NO notice until it arrived LATE in both cases. When I called they could only refund the purchase with return and would not make any attempts to replace with the right hardware so I had to start over and purchase elsewhere.

online inventory not accurate

"their online store inventory is a joke. i placed and order for store pickup. i received a call later saying that the order was cancelled because it was not in stock ( their website shows that it was in stock). i paid for the item with a gift card and they want me to go to the store to get a refund.. what a waste of time."

No Credit Card Discount. Don't fall for it,

"I applied for a HD credit card because of their claims of discounts on their website. Then I ordered a 14" 40v chainsaw with battery and charger that was $179 the day before. It jumped to $199 today. I ordered it anyway WD83074929 thinking I would get a discount and I didn't get any discount so I cancelled the order. I am going to cancel the card and go back to using my chase Ink card which gives me a 3% discount.

Fighting for a refund after returning wrong item

"Ordered a wheelbarrow, they delivered the wrong one. After hours of trying to contact customer service they agreed to pick it up. Now a week later they refuse to refund me and I have to open a PayPal dispute. They are literally stealing a hundred dollars from me. Their customer service department hangs up on me every time I call. Their chat won’t respond. My next step will be a dispute with my bank. After that, a lawyer. "

washer/dryer delivery fail

"I scheduled a washer/dryer delivery and installation. I did not receive a call the day scheduled so called about 3 pm to ask about my delivery. It took multiple phone calls and long hold times to even get through to someone. Then they couldn't give me an answer on whether delivery was even attempted, but said they needed to reschedule to the next day. I told them I required an early delivery. I didn't get a phone call until noon. The employee who called said they did not get the note about an early delivery and couldn't deliver today and that the next available appointment was in five days. Then he rudely insisted that they had tried to call me the originally scheduled day which they absolutely did not do. Very disappointed in both the service and attitude of the employee. They're trying to remedy it. I just hope it's a good product once it finally gets to me. The Fairbanks, AK Home Depot needs to improve their communication with both customers and fellow employees."

Just Not Good

"Placed an online pickup order for 3 items. It was ready in a couple hours. I headed over and picked it up. The bag was tied shut so I didn't open it until I got home and they left out one of the three items. I called the store and they said they'd have it ready and I could pick it up the next day. It took 3 days to be ready and when I visited the store to pick it up they couldn't find it. The associate walked back to retrieve another one off the shelf (a rainbird sprinkler head). It wasn't until I got home that I realized he gave me the wrong item (adjustable vs full spray). It shouldn't be this hard. Three items. Ordered online for convenience. I've now been to the store twice and soon a third time to get the correct item that I've already paid for. I understand we are in a pandemic and help is hard to find, but I ordered three things, they left one out, they took 3 days to grab another off the shelf, they lost that order, they grabbed the wrong one to replace it and I now know why I shop Amazon every chance I get. "

Avoid Headaches. Don't Purchase Custom Cabinets from Home Depot

"In April 2021, we ordered custom cabinets for the garage. We chose to go with Home Depot (HD) although the quote was substantially higher than Closet World. Our thinking was the HD reputation must stand for something. The delivery date was July 29 for a job for three walls. HD called to set up an installation date of Friday, August 27, nearly one month late. In the one-month interim, we called and visited the HD in Mira Loma, CA where the designer entered the project on the computer and where we paid for the purchase. The store manager, Nick, was helpful in reaching out to different people at the manufacturing site in Vista, CA. But he too got the run around as we did with individuals lying to Nick that we were contacted by phone and email. None of that was true. Complete silence from HD, except Nick. Last resort, regional managers Linda D. and Courtney were contacted.
On the scheduled install date, no one showed or called. The installation was rescheduled for August 31. The installers arrived and quickly realized the measurements were off on multiple cabinets. When an installer asked who the designer was, he frowned in disappointment saying he hated doing projects designed by her. He called the designer, Joy, to ask about her design and dimensions. She revealed she was no longer with HD and that she anticipated there were going to be issues with our project. The installer suspects Joy was fired because of the bad reputation she had promising work beyond the installers' control.
Conclusion: We sent the installers away with all the material. We have to start all over again or ask for a full refund and call Closet World.

Terrible. Lazy. Rather argue than do anything.

"I went in to purchase a new tool box, some tools, an air compressor, and some other odds and ends. The first person I spoke to about the toolbox (item # 1004-323-026) acted like I was bothering him, wasn’t truthful in his answers, and directed me to customer service. Employees at customer service tried to help, said they needed to track down the actual boxes containing my tool box to pull them. They weren’t where they were supposed to be. Fine. The guy finally tracked them down in receiving and was able to pull the top half of my toolbox but said the other half was buried in a trailer on receiving and he couldn’t get to it. I spent about an hour leaving them to figure it out gathering my other purchases. I came back to receiving where half of my box was sitting. I got nothing but excuses as to why they couldn’t pull the other half. “It’s buried” “no one here can use the jack” “we can’t get to it” “everyone is busy unloading the trailer next to the one your box is in and we can’t stop everyone to pull your box”. I’d been waiting an hour. At 8pm I was told by a manager they could will call it and have it ready for me some time tomorrow. Here’s the rub. One employee had shown me a photo of how “buried” and “blocked in” and “impossible to get to” the other half was. It wasn’t. It was in a trailer next to the one being unloaded. The right side was mostly emptied already. There was a motorized pallet jack underneath of the pallet blocking my box in. My box was on the edge, meaning all they had to do was move the motorized pallet Jack with the pallet it was already under out of the way, go in with a flat cart, slide the box onto the cart, and bring it out, then put the pallet they moved back. Two, maybe three minutes tops. Super easy. I couldn’t believe it. I waited an hour for them to pull this “impossible” box, then went rounds with a manager making a million excuses as to why they couldn’t get to it. The time I spent waiting and arguing and “being in the way” it could have been pulled, purchased, loaded, driven home, and assembled with half my tools in it. A thousand dollar tool box and another thousand dollars of purchases in a cart at the registers waiting on this box to be pulled and I left everything there because they are so lazy and inept they couldn’t move one pallet out of the way to pull my attempted purchase. The manager even offered me a discount to let her will call it to be pulled tomorrow. I don’t care about the discount, I wanted to set up a new tool box tonight. Tomorrow doesn’t work for me for several reasons, none of which matter now. I know a corporate giant like Home Depot doesn’t care about losing little old me as a customer but here we are, and they have. Good luck if you need anything in this store, folks. You’re gonna need it. "

Unethical Business Practice with Subscribe & Save System

"I ordered an item last year and used the subscribe & save function. I made the incorrect assumption that Home Depot would notify me in some way before they shipped a subscription item.

Every other company I have a subscriptions for does this. Unfortunately, homedepot.com does not do this. They only notify you the day they ship the subscription item.

They sent a shipment notification email my at around 1am, and I attempted to cancel the order as soon as I saw it around 8am. By that time it was already too late to cancel the order. I've since moved so they ended up shipping the item to an old address so now it's become a hassle to get the item to be able to return it. On top of that I had changed my billing address and they still somehow still charged my credit card.

There is a reason reputable companies send an advanced notification for subscription orders. Homedepot.com chooses not to do this so they can make more money in a somewhat unethical way, so I'll opt to not do business with them in the future.

Last minute delay of delivery of appliance

"I had ordered a dishwasher 3 weeks ago and had it scheduled to be delivered today between 7:00-11:00, took the day off and had an electrician scheduled to arrive this afternoon to install it.
At 2:30 I got a voicemail letting me know they rescheduled the delivery for 10 days later!

ow I am trying to call their 1-800 number and needless to say it is impossible to get hold of anyone.
I will NEVER order an appliance from Home Depot again. Horrible customer service.

Where are my appliances?

"1* because I cannot do negative *. I bought and paid for 3 appliances May 25, 2021, delivery scheduled June 26, 2021. On June 25, I received 3 phone calls and an email informing me of my June 26 4-hour delivery window. I emptied and cleaned all the haul-away appliances. When the 4 hours had passed, I called HD customer service and, after several transfers and holds, was informed only the dishwasher was at the trucking firm, the refrigerator and range had not even been received from the manufacturer, and the dishwasher they did have would be held until the others were delivered, with a new delivery date of July 7. No one from Home Depot or JBHunt or LG ever had the courtesy to contact us to inform us that no delivery was being made, after confirming several times that it was.
July 6, I checked and saw that no delivery was scheduled for July 7, as was promised on June 26. Again I called Home Depot customer service, to be told that the range and refrigerator were at JBHunt but would not be delivered, because they cannot find the dishwasher, and delivery will only be made of all 3 appliances together.
When I made this purchase and the appliances were in inventory, I asked if they could be sold away to someone else before the scheduled delivery date. The salesperson assured me that these appliances were now taken out of inventory and set aside for delivery to me. Meanwhile I paid for the purchases.
Now we are 6 weeks after purchase, and no one at Home Depot or JBHunt knows anything about where my appliances are or when they
might be delivered. No one from anywhere has communicated with me.
Meanwhile, we bought and paid for 2 more appliances for another property, #H0152-145579, set for July 7 delivery. They were brought to the house, both too damaged to accept. Despite the fault not being ours, they have set a new delivery date of August 3 - FOUR weeks later. Surely Home Depot can do better than that!
This is not a pandemic issue, but a sad instance of very negligent and uncaring customer service.

Home Depot new credit card scam

"I placed an order on the Home Depot website to purchase a wooded pantry cabinet for ~$500 and got a 10% discount on the purchase. At the checkout process, a popup dialog box showed that my total of ~$450 would be discounted for another $50 if I used a new HomeDepot credit and the new total would be ~$405. After I received my first credit statement, I found out that the credit card company did not honor the $50 discount as indicated in the dialog box. I called the credit card company (Citibank) and being explained there is a restriction on not allow combining a purchase discount with a new credit card promotion. My confusion is why the dialog box indicating an additional $50 promotion and showed a final price with the discount. This is totally trying to mislead customer to apply a new credit card even after a custom already has a discount in a purchase. In addition, a customer can use his/her existing card to get additional discount without a restriction."
