"For all of you that have lost money to Henry's Cedar Chest, I encourage you to file a small claims suit against them, as I am in the process of doing. You can call the Berryville District Court at 1-***-***-****. The address is: Berryville District Court, 103 Spring, Berryville, AR, 72616. Henry's Cedar Chest address is: 115 Mill Street, Oak Grove, AR, 72660-9711. His name is: Jim Henry, her name is: Paula Henry (at least that is the signatures on the check). I spoke with Doris about my problem. There is over 700 hundred miles between Henry's Cedar Chest and my hometown. Doris sent me the small claims documents to fill out, got them Saturday (5-5-12). Mr. Jim Henry and his wife stole $565.00 from the union where I'm the Sec/Treasurer. I was told by Doris that after I send in the forms and the documents I have as facts, she would talk to the judge to see if he will continue the case based on my papers without my being present. If more of you file with the courts, it will be easier in the future for more people to get their money back. I was fooled by this couple. I sent them a check for $565.00 for 24 cedar bible boxes and bibles that we give out to our members when they have lost a loved one. Don't delay, you have 3 years to file. "

"I really wish I had found this site before I ordered from them because I have had the very same experience with them. You want to trust them. They seem like a nice elderly couple that is just making some side money while enjoying a hobby but I no longer feel that is the case. I feel scammed. I had to write them a letter today (to send via fax since they won't answer the phone or return phone calls). Before I put it on the fax I tried one more time to call them using a tip that my mother gave me. I used caller id blocking and they actually answered the phone when I did that! Miracle of miracles. Today on the phone I spoke to the wife that apologized for the trouble I have had. She said that she would go to the shop in the morning and if my boxes were there she would mail them to me tomorrow. She said that if they were not there that she would refund my money by money order on Thursday but either way she would call me in the morning to let me know. (I won't be holding my breath.) Instead of typing the whole story again here I'm just going to paste the contents of my letter to them. It tells the story. What every you do, do not order from or trust these people. If if I give them the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe they are just in over their head, after reading the reviews from others with the same problem, I doubt that is the case.

Dear Mr. Henry,

I am sending this fax to you because your fax seems to work fine even though you never answer your phone. I am making one last attempt to give you the benefit of the doubt here so please respond immediately.

I ordered and paid for five custom size cedar Bible boxes from you in July of this year. On the day I ordered them from you, you told me the cost was $170 and the shipping was $38. I sent you a check for $208.00 and that check cleared my bank on July 26th.

After weeks of not hearing from you I tried to contact you. Even thought I tried contacting you many times and many times left messages for you asking for a return phone call I never received a single return phone call. On October 4th, I finally had to ask my mother to call you from her phone number to see if she could reach you. I wasn’t surprised to learn that you actually answered the phone when she called. She asked you about the boxes and asked you to return my call which you did the next day, on October 5th. You left me a voicemail message at 11:49 AM that said that you thought the Bible boxes were ready and sitting on your counter and that just had not gotten around to shipping them.

On October 18th, my mother called you again and you told her that you “forgot to ship them”, that you “didn’t have a box” and that you couldn’t find my address. She then gave you my address and my phone number.

I also called you again on October 18th and you told me that you did not have the money to ship them. I asked you if the $38 I paid for shipping was not enough and you said, that, no, it was enough but you had used that money to purchase wood and supplies and you were short $24 for the shipping. You also said that you had orders coming in that next week and that you would use some of that money to ship my boxes to me. I still have not received my boxes. I have again, tried several times, to call you but you never answer the phone. Since I cannot get in touch with you and you won’t call me to let me know where my boxes are or when they will be here I was forced to call the Carroll County Sheriff today. They gave me the phone number for the District Court and they are mailing small claims court forms to me. Once I get those I will be forced to start proceedings in order to get my money back from you or my boxes. Please be aware that I will also have to include the fees and the court costs associated with filing a small claims suit against you in my claim. Should the Judge rule in my favor, you will also be obligated to reimburse those costs to me.

Please understand that I never wanted to have to do this. I took you at your word. You seemed to me to be a kind elderly gentleman that was making a small business with a hobby that you enjoyed but it has been too long now with to many excuses and to many unreturned phone calls and I just no longer have the faith that I will ever see my boxes.

PLEASE contact me today and let me know where my boxes are and when they will be here so that we can both avoid all of this hassle.

"My husband ordered a cedar chest from Henrys Cedar Chest ion March 24, 2011. He ordered over the phone with the owner of the company. They told him how much it would cost, at first they insisted on a credit card number but my husband wouldn't give one so they told him the price & address of where he could send a check. It was sent off immediately, they received it, cashed it & that's it. We have sent them registered letters which they signed for but ignored. We have tried calling, they refuse to answer, we have even gotten the BBB involoved. They have tried to contact them 5 times. We still have gotten nothing!
Needless to say, we are not happy at all! these are scam artists who know how to get away with stealing!

"My parents ordered a 46 inch cedar chest from Henrys Cedar Chest in April 2011. Unfortunately they sent a check & didn't use PayPal. Their check was cashed in May 2011 but they have yet to receive their cedar chest kit. My dad has called many times and has left MANY messages, all unreturned. I think it's terrible that these people take advantage of hard working people like my parents who ordered the kit so my dad could make my sister a chest. HORRIBLE!"

"Where do I start? Just a peek at the website should have clued me into what type of operation I was getting involved with. Poor grammar and punctuation abound. Anyway, I ordered a cedar chest from HenrysCedarChest on 12/19/10 to the tune of $195 w/shipping. After I made the order via PayPal I did not receive any confirmation e-mail from the merchant advising that they received my order. The numerous, numerous e-mails and phone calls I left them over the next couple weeks went unanswered and/or unreturned. I received my only response from HenrysCedarChests about 3 weeks after my initial purchase date when I started to file a claim with PayPal. Their response was in essence: that their planer broke and they were behind schedule, but please terminate the PayPal claim so that they could get my $195. Needless to say I did not stop my claim and after HenrysCedarChests even stopped responding to PayPal's inquiries after about a month, PayPal (thank heaven for them) terminated my order and refunded my money. Steer clear of these characters."
