Beware - auto renew

"They auto renew by stealing $199 or the going rate at the end of the first year. Only way you would know this is to read fine print on receipt. If they were trying to be honest an email would come prior to them taking your money allowing you to opt out. Very deceitful practice."

Horrible con artists

"Geek squad online phone replacement claims was the worst experience I have ever had for a warranty service ever! My iPhone stopped charging and wouldn’t turn on. I paid to for the advance return which means they ship you a replacement phone and charge your cc $800. As soon as I got the replacement phone I shipped my defective phone straight to them the same day dropping it off directly at the UPS office like they requested and packaged it exactly as instructed. My defective phone was in immaculate condition cosmetically, no scratches never been wet. Etc. Just would no longer charge. When the tracking label said it was received by their office the next day I was suprised that i had not received my advance refund within 3 days as advised when I choose the advance exchange option. I waited over a week before calling them for the 1st time. I called them every day for 2 months looking for my refund and was fed a ton of different stories (billing needs to release it and talk to the warehouse to see if it’s there, oh we see it’s there but billing needs to release the refund still, oh find my iPhone is still on(which was not correct), oh we have the wrong iemei, and promises every time that they figured out why my refund was not being completed and each request to speak with a manager never done (they say a manager will call you within 48 hours but it never happens) So I would call everyday. For 2 months I had no refund so I was out my old broken phone (I would have kept it if I knew what a rip off and paid a store to fix) and I paid $800 for a used refurbished iPhone 6, like it would ever pay that for an old phone. Eventually I had a supervisor call me (2 months later) who got me my refund BUT before they sent me my $800 refund they charged my cc another $130 for an accidental damage claim and 5 days later I got my $800 refund. Once I had my refund for the $800 I called again asking what damage was done to the phone knowing full well there was no cosmetic damage. They tried to tell me my phone had a crack on the screen. I was in disbelief as I knew 100% it was cosmetically perfect screen protector out on by Bestbuy themselves and replaced every 6 months because I am picky always had a case mate case on it to make sure it was in good condition to hand down to my daughter when I was done with it. I asked them to send me the picture with the crack and send a picture showing me the back of the phone with the iemei number. Well after about 3 weeks of asking for an update on the extra $130 they charged they finally “reviewed” my phone again agreed there was no damage to the phone. Wow I got all my money back but with so much effort. I cancelled my warranty with my iPhone 7’s I just bought and will only ever buy an AppleCare warranty in the future. Geek squad is such a bunch of crooks!"

Sadly Disappointed

"I got a camera for Christmas and something was wrong, I suspected the lens but had no way to test it (seeing as this was my first pro camera), every small camera shop was closed because it was Dec. 26th (observed holiday). So Best buy was open so I stopped in there and went to the camera section and the very nice sales associate directed me to Geek Squad and said that they would be able to help me that they do by appointment but they would gladly take walk-ins, I just needed the lens swapped to rule out the lens being faulty. So I approached the counter an, the associate (who had no name tag), waved me over. I explained to him the situation and he asked me did I buy the camera at Best Buy, I said no, I told him that they sold the same camera there, but once I said I did not buy it from Best buy, it was like he had no interest in helping me and said I have no idea about cameras, just computers and told me I could go somewhere else. I never complain, and this is the truth, but I felt like once he realized I didn't get the camera from there that I was no longer his issue...whoever he was really needs to work on his people skills. (This was the Geek Squad in Bestbuy in Christiansburg, VA)"

"Our computer was under warranty and we paid for an additional warranty. The hinge on the unit disintegrated and we took the computer in for repairs. We should have pulled the hard drive first. Now we are told that the only way we can get our data back is to pay up to nearly $500 for the transfer. The computer is in Kentucky and they will not ship the unit back unless we 1) pay for the data transfer 2) void all warranty. This is not acceptable.
Do not ever use this service!

" I took my Computer into the store and they wanted $90.00 just to look at it.. Like a fool I paid it and they told me the motherboard was bad. then referred me to the sales department. I did not believe then since it still booted up and my problem was I could not use the internet.
Call a local vetern dealer instead

So I took it back and Called Accurate Appliance, Computer &TV Repair - ***-***-**** ****@****

They came to my home and in in 15 minutes had my computer working on the internet. Then they removed the virus that caused the problem. my motherboard wasn't bad at all, the liars
They told me who the Geeks really are. They are a bunch of unskilled and barely trained young techs who experiment on peoples electronics. they have little to no experience. Well I for one do not want that kind of service. Plus Best Buy is a sales organization. the service department referred me to sales to buy a new computer. They really do not want to fix stuff.
The guys at Accurate Appliance, Computer &TV Repair only repair electronics. They are Veteran repairmen. Now I know the difference.
Do not do business with a bunch of inexperienced geeks.

""Cheat Squad" would be a more appropriate company name. Seems the company's business model to "sell the $200 protection plan," and don't worry about the fall out if your skill set is subpar for making in house repairs... A simple task of installing a new hard drive on the HP laptop left for repair resulted in four missing screws on the underside. Plus the keyboard was not intact (hard to guess what spare parts may have ended up on the work table,) and eight keys on the keyboard would not function. Upon return to the store to report the condition, I was told "we are not authorized to open the case"... The case had to be opened to install the hard drive. Turns out they lied to me and I never needed a new hard drive in the first place. They claimed I needed a new hard drive because they were not qualified to remove the malware or viruses that were on there in the first place. I had to find another company to get it cleaned up and fixed. I ended up finding SafePCFix based out of SoCal. They were able to log in and fix it remotely in a few hours. They sent me the screws that geek squad lost for my laptop.

The poor young geek squad employees are being fed and fattened up on corporate line of mumbo jumbo that covers up ineptness and a fraudulent business model. Eventually the result will be the end of any integrity for the Geek Squad brand and their own employment. Needless to say when I checked in with SafePCfix guys, they were very friendly, helpful, respectful, knowledgeable, quick to diagnose the issue and reasonably priced. Now that is a great business model. I have no problem with a referral, Buyer beware. Do not visit the Geek Squad or their Agents.

"geek squad cant even setup a new digital tv, they hooked a DIGITAL CONVERTER BOX for the old tv, to this NEW digital tv, didnt show how to use it, wasted 150$ for a setup for my mom-inlaw, what a waste of money.BEWARE, THEY WILL GET YOU TO BUY STUFF YOU DONT NEED. If they had experience, they would know what they are doing, they have people that dont know how to do simple things"
