Buyer Beware - Aftersales Service is Shocking

"Abysmal levels of customer service if your TV breaks. Over a month to fix, then sent back with no stand. Weeks of promises a replacement stand has been dispatched. Fake tracking numbers, numerous emails, promises not fulfilled. Appalling. Still to arrive, TV useless.

Buy a decent brand from a reputable retailer. Avoid Finlux.

OK while it lasted

24" LED TV

Lovely TV at a great price which arrived day after ordering.

There was a slight problem with setting it up (transmitter down?) and I rang the number provided and got through quickly to a helpful English accented person.

EDIT - I gave this 5* originally, but sadly need to revise that.

After 4 years of infrequent and very light use it failed. I phoned the Finlux support number and was told to hold for a person - then cut off - twice. I used their online support and when I said the LED was not coming on, they said I needed to take it to an engineer and as it was out of guarantee they could not help further.

After investigating the problem I find that it has a VESTEL 17PW80 power supply board in it and that is what has failed. I read it seems that this board is badly designed, has three diodes in parallel and a suggestion that it is actually for a 22" display - not this 24". I read that it is designed to fail - and often does and this seems to be born out by many repair kits - for this board (containing the three diodes) on Ebay. I've cut the short circuited failed diode out and it works, so hopefully will be good for another four years once I've replaced those three diodes.

This shouldn't happen with a 4 year old little used TV and I'm sorry that Finlux did not agree. I don't expect to be buying from them again.
