Never again

"I paid an extra $15 for tracking. The tracking number never worked from day one. I wrote repeatedly to Figleaves asking what was up. I called. They said, each time, that they would investigate and never did. They never once followed up or contacted me proactively. After ten days of no answers from them, I asked them to refund the money. They refunded the money and *then* told me they had the package the whole time and had been about to send it out when I cancelled. Given I cancelled on a Sunday, I found this incredibly specious. They are just a**sholes. I never got my package, still haven't gotten a refund. $500 just up in smoke."

Prices scam

"Just ordered two bras from Figleaves, which were listed on their site at a red, discounted price. When I received the confirmation email, I noticed that the prices listed were a lot higher. When I asked customer service about this, they responded those were the exact prices. When I checked the site again, the red prices had disappeared. Apparently the promised discounts are only a way to lure you in. Nice scam Figleaves!"

Reviews Censored and & argued over return postage

"I bought two items and returned it straight away (I just didn't like it) using the free returns label.

The Figleaves refund deducted the cost of the original postage, which is illegal for returns within 14 days. Their T&Cs said they deduct the cost of the return postage, but the person on their call centre said they were deducting the original postage. Either way, it's not "free returns".

My call to request the postage was refunded resulted in an argument about the law. Since I had researched this I was able to eventually convince the person that I knew that they had to refund this money, which they have now done.

I reported them to the Advertising Standards Authority for false claims about free returns. The ASA responded that I had a valid claim and they had written to Figleaves.

Figleaves have now removed the banner at the top of the page saying "free returns". They have also changed the T&Cs to reflect the law.

AND: I tried to post a review similar to the above on their website and they rejected it because "it did not meet all our website guidelines". They say they only accept reviews of the actual product purchased (which is very convenient for them, as that means THEY can never be criticised on their own website).

So: don't expect Figleaves to be nice or helpful. I now consider them a "gamer" who aren't interested in customer service, just seeing what they can get away with until they are forced by external pressure to follow the law. I was becoming a regular customer and will now never use them again.

"Dear all please check your bank accounts immediately for this scam. A payment goes out if your account each month on your debit/credit card and will appear as shoppers discount co uk or an abbreviation of this. It will be for a small amount usually £10-15 a month. Whilst you will not have knowingly authorised this payment it will have iccured when you have bought something in line and they offered you a discount often on your first purchase. I bought some underwear from fig leaves in October 2011 and have discovered that I had inadvertently by accepting a discount on my purchase been signed up to this company. They have been taking )10 from my account each month since November 2011. Please repost this on your facebook timeline/twitter etc to warn others and ask all your friends to check their accounts and stop this scam. You can apply for a refund which I have done but only time will tell as to whether I get it all back. It's appalling so let's stop them!!!!"

"Do not buy from Figleaves if you're a US customer. If you do you may end up with an unpleasant surprise as you get a separate substantially sized bill for customs duties after you get your clothing (mine was from DHL for 50US$). This is not disclosed transparently on their website which only mentioned a $6.95 inernational shipping fee. Also, they are in general a poor customer service company. Two of the items I ordered were not available and it took them 7 days to inform me of that one was unavailable. (I never heard about the second missing items--I just cancelled the order when it had not shown up after 20 days). Of the items I received, I am returning all but one, yet the bill for customs stills stands..."

"Do not buy from figleaves they refused me a refund when the size was wrong even though the bikini top was returned within 24 hours with tags still on and unworn in immaculate condition. READ all reviews on other sites too there are a lot of people having problems with figleaves. Terrible customer service. "

"I've purchased 4 bras from this site. The package arrives very neatly boxed so your items don't get damaged in transit. It also took right around 5 business days to arrive at my door which is very fast considering it is coming from overseas (UK). I ended up returning 2 of the 4 bras, and though I had to pay for return shipping (as an international return), they received it in a week and I was notified by email that I would be getting a refund to my original payment method. The refund was processed within 2 business days. I'm satisfied with my shopping here. I would have liked free shipping as some lingerie sites in the UK do offer free international shipping."

"The website design is fine, delivery is usually quick but if you dare to find a bra unfitting and try to return it for a refund or a store credit - OMG! the horror! I once had to chase them for months! (literally) to get a simple refund for one bra I had returned (within the return time frame they allow for refunds). The second time I got the package very late, more then a month after ordering and when I asked them if I can return some of the items still, for a store credit or exchange (as many other online bra shoppers I ordered the same item in different sizes to find the best fitting one) I was simply IGNORED, time and time again.
Moreover, if you look at their "terms and conditions" page you'll find a threatening "fraud" section:

which is likely to make to you feel more like a thief than a costumer. They're fine as long as you don't cause "trouble" like daring to ask for a refund or make a return. If you're smart - stir away, especially as finding a bra that fits is so hard to find and it is likely that you'll have to make a return sometime.

"I was really shocked to receive an invoice from DHL with a $71 duty charge based on my Figleaves order. What makes matter worse, is out of the over 10 items I ordered, I only kept 3. And what makes matters even worse than that, is that I have to now deal with the US Borders and Customs, going through a rigamarole with a slowpoke government agency, to try to get a refund--which, according to their site, is very unlikely to happen. Figleaves does not make this clear at all...you'd have to search through their fine print to realize the risks associated with ordering from them. And since I've ordered before from other UK sites (Net-a-porter, for one), and haven't had this problem, I was especially surprised."

"This company is a RIP OFF. Their website is made to look like a U.S. website and then I got stuck with a $58 Customs fee!!! They are not upfront about this possibility by making it clear in the check out process. You have to dig to find this small print. NO ONE in their right mind would place an order knowing that they might have to pay this kind of outrageous fee. They told me to take it up with Customs. I did business with Figleaves NOT Customs. They also could have told me that if I split the order in to 2 orders, I would have avoided the charges all together.

The use deceptive and unethical business practices.

"i didn't like figleaves at all the bras i ordered were way to small in cup and band size and i ordered the size i normally would wear and they took a long time to get here and when we asked they said they didn't know where they were and it took the package a month to get to my house the only good thing i can say is that they sent a replacement package which arrived the same time as the original package and i had to send both back because of the sizes over all not a very good experience i would recommend not getting figleaves personal brands!"

"Being that I didn't know they shipped from the UK, I thought it would take at least 3 weeks for my items to arrive in the US. Surprisingly my orders arrived quick. "I can't say enough about this store, I have ordered many times from them and never had a problem. They have a wide selection of beautiful lingerie and swimwear in every size, make and colour. Their prices are very good, but they are constantly having sales, and you can usually find online coupons for discounts or free shipping. I have returned items without ever having a problem, and have spoken to their customer service people who are extremely nice and helpful. I would highly recommend shopping with them."
