"On the website, it clearly says 2-day Fedex shipping. However, my order was shipped via UPS. This is very deceiving to customers, like myself, who prefer Fedex."
" I ordered an Asus M6N laptop on 4/20/04. It arrived on 4/26/04. The shipping time was pretty good and the laptop was extremely well packaged. The laptop itself was great, except that I noticed that the LCD screen seemed to "flicker". (LCD's can't technically flicker, but it seemed like it. It seemed to be a backlight problem). To make sure it wasn't just my own eyes, I asked 5 of my friends to look at the screen, and they confirmed it.
So I RMA'ed my laptop on 4/30/04. The total shipping cost was $41.85 (insurance on $1800 dollars was $19 and the base shipping amount was $22.) Since then, I've sent a few emails to ****@**** and received replies within 2 business days. The RMA department says that they did not see the flickering I was talking about, but they had asked Asus to send a replacement LCD so that they could replace mine.
I haven't received word back on the current status of the laptop, but it has been almost 1 month since I RMA'ed the laptop. I think Essential Computers should have an updated "RMA status" page that tells customers what stage their RMA is at. It would also be good send status updates as emails to the customers, instead of having the customers ask for the status.
I know there are so many positive reviews here, but I felt that I had to write up my situation since no one else seemed to have it before. I'll update this when something happens.
UPDATE: I received my laptop on 6/1/04. Again, the packaging was great and the laptop seems to be working now. From my experience, the only complaint I have is that Essential Computer could have a faster response time to customer questions. "
