"I ordered some pieces from ChessHouse and they came damaged (broke, scratches). No customer service response for 9 days and there was nothing I could do. I eventually left a bad review on their store based on my purchase, and guess what? They never let the review post. I tried couple of times. That should explain how they got a high rating. Do not go just by the rating when only good ratings are being allowed to post. Or look for independent ratings. That is the lesson I learnt. "

"I ordered a simple 18" chess board bag with zipper. What they sent was a 19" chess board bag with velcro flaps, and huge front pockets for chess pieces.
I called their customer service and told them that I think they sent me the wrong item. The rep asked for the details, then proceeded to tell me that they don't have the 18" bags anymore so they sent me this different kind of chess board bag.
So I told the rep that I want to return this bag that I didn't order. The rep courteously said ok and emailed me a shipping label right away. The return process was smooth BUT...
I am so confused as to why Chess House would assume that I want this other bag, instead of just cancelling my order and letting me know they were out of stock. I waited a week for my order, only to find out they purposely sent me a wrong one, then now I have to go drop this item off to a UPS center. The whole thing is just annoying."
"This is my 2nd order from ChessHouse.com and I am extremely happy with both orders. My first order was around New Year's 2007 and ChessHouse was running a promotion on a heavy chess club combo set (vinyl board, heavy weighted chess pieces and tournament bag) for $15 after coupon. I have three kids learning to play chess, so I ordered 3 sets + an Excalibur Game Timer II chess clock with free shipping for LESS than anywhere I could find on other chess websites. Most websites only offered the lighter club pieces for about the same price.
My most recent experience was also great. I ordered a vinyl (slot type) demo board, the Excalibur "Chess Station" chess computer and 2 other items with free shipping for again less than I could find elsewhere.
Shipping in both cases was free ($50+ orders) via UPS ground and were extremely well packaged.
