Terrible company

"I paid 1280$ for an engine for an old truck i have on 1/18/19 and didn't receive it until 2/1/19 with bare minimum tracking information. When it arrived at my house it had rust and i realized it was missing the exhaust manifolds and the timing belt cover which is a big deal, so i called carmonkeys and they said "Its a thirty year old engine what do you expect" I said i expected to get everything i paid for. They said the best they can do is send for a pickup and re-ship it out. Definitely will NOT recommend."

SCAM! Worse company I've ever dealt with. Junkyard products shipped

"Placed order with them, when it finally shipped it was a piece of junk. Company is a scam. When called to say motor was junkyard quality they said it won't look like the one on website as they posted a picture of a mustang motor next to advertisement for a Chevrolet 30 pick up truck engine assembly which is what we ordered. I was asked to keep review honest. Honesty is something this company knows nothing about. Not an issue of price if product is correct. Offered to have us return it...product cost us 1,029. For $606.42 cost to us we could send it back! So we get a junkyard motor and to return it we will get a credit of $400. REAL good business! Posting this because no one else should have to deal with this level of unprofessionalism. Will be reporting to the better business bureau. If they made things right we wouldn't be on this website."

Never will I buy here again.

"I called and asked for a 2011 Chevy Colorado 3.7 engine they told me that they had one in stock I told them I would like to purchase it they told me okay they told me the amount was going to be $2,500 I told them it was fine I bought it they had told me it would take 2 or 3 business days to get it the 3rd day came around and I still haven’t got it I called up to car monkey and they had told me that the order was canceled because it failed Expections I asked them why didn’t they notify me and let me know I asked them when did the engine fail and he said Friday (the same day I bought the engine) I had told them that was dirty because I had my truck at the shop and waiting for them to send me one and the worker told me well sorry I don’t know what to tell you. Never will I buy a thing from here again. "

Buyer Beware!!!

"Purchased an engine. They did not charge our credit card for months. When we tried to get in touch with someone they would not answer the phone for weeks. After finally answering our email, they told us that our information was deleted and they wanted for us to send credit card information over email. I refused to do this because email is not secure and they finally gave us a phone number. We called and they took our information but were extremely rude and they refused to give us the coupons that were applied to original purchase, which is crazy because if I had not called them they never would have been paid. When I asked if I was going to have this kind of service if I ever needed to use the warranty that I purchased, the representative told me that I was slandering him. I have never been treated so badly, even though I was trying to do the right thing and make sure this company got their money. They would not even tell me how much they were charging my credit card until after they charged it. Please beware. Terrible company and almost impossible to get in touch with."

"Manager" Threatens to Cancel My Order for Bad Review

"Worst customer service experience I've had buying a part online in my life. They committed to a day the part I ordered would be delivered "at the latest." When it didn't get there, I called in to get tracking information. It wasn't even on a truck yet. When I told the rep that was unacceptable and that I make sure my online reviews of my experience said as much, he told me he was cancelling my order and issuing a full refund because "it was in the best interest of the company" not to do business with someone who was threatening to post negative reviews online. I asked to speak with someone that might be able to accept my complaint and he told me he's the "manager, so there's nobody above him for me to talk to." After summarizing that they were refusing to do business with me despite already paying for the product and having a sales contract in place before I make my submission to the Better Business Bureau, he puts me on hold for ten minutes. Comes back on and shortly says your order is estimated to be there no earlier than next Monday (one week after they had originally told me it would be here at the latest). Awesome. Don't deal with this place. It's a rinky **** parts shop in New Jersey masquerading as an online parts giant. Their stock trades publicly for $0.02/share over-the-counter. Go to Autozone."

Horrible Products and Customer Service

"I used Carmonkeys site to get my car engine information to purchase a Transmission by using their Vin# decoder. The information looked right, make, model, 4x4 sport everything a consumer would know about their car...except it listed my engine as 4.7 L when it is actually a 5.9 L. When the trans was delivered, it was the wrong transmission, it had over 180,000 miles on it, it was rusted everywhere and the sensors were broken. When I called to ask how that was tested and how it they could pass it with a 5 year warranty, they said they tested it while still in the original car (came from B&R Auto Wrecking) and no chunks came out...Hum. I had to return the transmission at my cost to get it off AAMCO's property. I emailed Carmonkeys.com; below is the customer service you should expect if you buy from them.

You're free to do what you want. We will work with the credit card company to recover our restocking fee.

You are responsible for ordering the correct part for your vehicle.

You are also responsible to supply the correct information to your customers. I used your sites information to make my purchase. I've seen others that have ordered from your site have the same complaint and you giving that same response. rather than fixing the information on your site you are willingly giving false information to your customers then laying blame on the consumer.

Hello,
I was thinking about keeping the transmission even though it has 180k miles on it however when I called my mechanic at AAMCO he now notified me that the wrong transmission was sent. I found the transmission model by using your sites Vin# decoder. Your decoder showed that my engine was 4.7L when in actuality it is 5.9L, I based the purchase off of your sites information. I need to know how you are going to help me resolve this and return the transmission. Below is the information given on Carmonkeys.com when you enter Vin# 1B4HS58Z12F103244.

They lie and steal from people

"They are the most dishonest company, we order a motor for $750, and when we view the motor we realized it was to big for what we need, we didn't touch or unpack the motor and talk to the delivery guy that we want to returned, he was OK and we sign the return form, when I email the company about the situation they stated that they with refund $320 until they received the motor back, a week later I ask what happen with the rest or the refund and this is what they said back and forward:
"" CarMonkey: That is all your getting back the transaction is completed. You were charged the shipping back and partial cost of the shipping we spent to send this motor to you.
Me: SO you are telling me that you are charging me $445 for that, are you insane, this is a robbery I want my refund
CarMonkey:: Knock your self out. You were told before that you were being charged the shipping back and restocking fee. ""

DO NOT USE CARMONKEYS.COM

"I ordered a transmission for my car from this company that has the 5 year warranty. My first complaint is it took two weeks to process the payment. I called and had to wait half an hour just to get someone. When they answered i was told it was shipped out a week prior and that it would be here the next day at the latest. Then when i got the email that had shipping details, it had only been processed an hour after i got off the phone with customer service and not shipped yet. I then had to go and pick up the transmission an hour drive away or wait another week. Still got charged the shipping. After having the item installed by a shop, they said the internal pump was bad. So now i am sitting on hold again, but am now just under an hour wait time. I need to get this transmission swapped for one that is good but this place wont pick up the phone. I would rate this less than a star and as a complete ripoff."

Refused to honor 5-year warranty after 1-year engine knocks

"I bought a 7.3l instead of a 6.9l engine. They are the same engine and are compatible. Found seller on Ebay, arranged purchase on the phone, was sent invoice and paid via PayPal. A little over a year later the engine started knocking. They told me to get documented diagnosis from an auto shop. When I sent it in they denied the warranty on basis it was not the correct engine for my truck. The salesperson I dealt with was aware of my minor upgrade to the slightly larger engine. Now I am stuck with a broke truck again and wasted $4000 for install and purchase of the engine for one year of operation. They should verify warranty compatibility via VIN otherwise I would have gotten the 6.9 or gotten documentation it is a valid substitute. After denying my warranty claim they simply stopped responding when I raised the compatibility issue."

"My brother ordered an engine from them that was supposed to be rebuilt and tested.

What we received was a junk engine with over 200k miles on it, it was not rebuilt and still had old spark plugs, oil filter, cut cables/wires and hoses attached to it. The yard that they bought the engine from was many states away (they claim to be in New Jersey which should be an immediate red flag) and they had left tags on the engine indicating who they were. We were able to find their contact information and talk to them.

They claimed to have no idea that the engine had been bought/sold by an outfit claiming the engine was rebuilt and tested. They came across as pretty angry actually and didn't know what to tell us except to contact Carmonkeys.

Contacted a trial lawyer friend who agreed to help us out and after two hours of letting the phone ring, yes, seriously, we finally got a hold of someone at carmonkeys who tried to explain to us that it didn't matter where the engine had come and was untested, that their stellar warranty would cover it.

Nope, we were not going to mess with that, it was obvious this was a scam. Immediately threatened legal action from lawyer friend that was on the line with us. We explained that the only way to avoid legal action was to get our money back and that we were not going to pay to ship a trash engine anywhere. Lawyer friend chimed in and explained precisely how we were going to proceed with legal action if they did not agree to these terms. Additionally, prior to calling, we'd contacted the credit card company and they initiated the process to reverse the charges.

I guess they knew they were caught and that's why they acquiesced and we got the money back. The junk engine is still here, they never sent anyone to pick it up.

We thought we were done with them, but then we started to receive anonymous harassing/obscene google voice calls (unable to track them with caller ID). We had obviously made them very mad, but they felt like they needed to get us back. The calls stopped after a few months.

Because of these calls, I am not going to list my order number or order date. This is meant as a warning to other people to avoid this company at all costs. Google them to see that this is not an isolated issue.
