"This is the worst company ever and they have the same AWFUL costumer service representative named "Rachel" they really should fire her because she is rude and tried claiming that USPS "takes 1 item out of packages and leaves the rest." I've never had USPS lose an item out of a sealed package. Then she argued with me that it happens all the time. I think the employees there steal books and report them as "not received" to rip off customers. I've used books run, sellback your books, textbook maniac, valors books, Abe books, and never had a problem. Please choose ANY ONE other than bookbyte. "I sold back a textbook to them for a decent price, well my textbook was a loose lead version. When I sent the book to them, I entered the ISBN from the book in front of me. After BookByte received the book, they rejected it and said that I put in the ISBN for the hardcover book, which I know I didn’t. So they did not pay me and refused to send the book back. Don’t use them!!!"
"They basically stole my book. The estimate was $65.50 for a book I “sold” to them. I received no money for the book. I bought the book last year at my college’s book store brand new. "I am posting this on every review site to warn people about this horrible company. Bookbyte is a thief! Please please stay away from them! I wish I could give them zero stars. They will offer the highest resale amount to lure people into selling back their books! Then they steal it from them. I sold them a brand new textbook worth over $150 I purchased from my college and they sent me an email saying my book is fake. They are all thieves! You are better off sending your book to textbookrush or chegg. I have had no problems sending to them. Run away from these thieves! Oh and when I asked them to provide proof of their evaluation, they did not provide any proof. I sold to a different company recently and they found water damage on one page of my book. They were kind enough to send me a picture showing the page, and they offered to ship my book back to me, or offer a lesser price. Bookbyte does not do this because they are all thieves! Please save yourself the trouble. Find another company to sell to."

"Beware! If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I sent in three loose leaf textbooks with a quote for $153 total. Apparently, there was an issue with ISBN numbers related to these being loose leaf versions and every book was rejected. Bookbyte will not return rejected books, so my books simply took the long route to the recycle bin or trash can. The only good thing I can say is that the customer service department responded promptly to my email. I will not be buying or selling from Bookbyte in the future.
Update: Bookbyte did respond to my second email with an offer of 25% of my original quote since I was a first time seller. Some consolation in this."
"I sent a textbook in valued at $80, in good overall condition. I even spoke to someone via their chat function to make them aware that it had been used, and they advised the condition I described was fine. As soon as they had it I received a bizarre e-mail saying Bookbyte retained the right to shut down my account for any reason they wished, and that's what they had chosen to do. I contacted them, and they advised the book wasn't suitable for resale and they'd destroyed it. Eventually through formally complaining they gave me $20 as a gesture. I'm under no illusion that this book will now be sold on for $80+, and feel very silly for trusting them in the first place."
"Based on what other reviews said, I knew I was taking a gamble by selling my book to Bookbyte. I took photos of it before sending it in, just in case they said it wasn't in good condition or something. They ended up paying the full amount they had quoted and I got my check relatively quickly. I'm very happy with the experience and will do business with them again. "
"I sent my books into Bookbyte on July 31st to sell back to them, it's not September 17th and I still have not received the check. I have contacted customer service multiple different times and have been told several different things about when I should be expecting said check. Honestly, don't waste your time and just use Chegg"
"Before I received my payment for my sellback order, I was a little skeptical about selling them my books because of the reviews. I had no issues with them & received my payment promptly. I'm giving them four stars though because I wish I would have received notification emails that my package was received, approved, in process, etc. I only got an order confirmation email & an email from PayPal about the payment."
"I was hesitant to send my book to Bookbyte because of all the bad reviews but they were offering a lot more money for my book than any other company . I packaged the book up and took it to the post office. Just as the directions suggest, I purchased insurance at the post office (costs about $3). The shipping label they send does have tracking and so I checked it often to make sure the package arrived at their warehouse. I did not receive any correspondence from Bookbyte as other people have stated, yet I was able to check my account online and see what the status was. It went from pending to accepted in just a few days and the book was described as "like new" in their comments, which it was. I received payment in my paypal account this morning. Easy and without issues. I will continue to use them!"
"I would like to say I had a great experience with BookByte. They are easy to work with and very helpful. I followed the directions to send them the books, and they paid for the shipping.
I tracked the package, and when they received my books, they sent a notification to say it would take a few days to receive the books into their system.
After a few days, I received another notification they deposited the money into my paypal account. They gave me exactly what was quoted. I highly suggest BookByte to anyone!

"I sent in a book to Bookbyte that was in perfect condition. After about 3 weeks of not hearing anything about it and not receiving my check, I logged into the website to find the phone number. On the website, I found a page that told me my book had been rejected. The book I had sent in was in perfect condition. I had also sent books in the exact same condition into other websites such as Buyback101 and Mybookcart. The checks I received from the other websites were for the exact amount I was quoted. I see on Bookbyte’s website that they do not send back books that they reject and I feel as if I have been scammed. I am going to contact costumer service tomorrow as now it is after hours. This company is absolutely despicable, please save yourself the trouble and do not use Bookbyte. They scammed me out of money and I am very, very unhappy. "
