"This company is the worst of the worst. I called them to get the capacity of their WiFi light switches. They told me the switches would handle 800 watts of LED bulbs. Based upon that information, I ordered my WiFi light switches form them. However, I learned that the information they gave me regarding the capacity of their WiFi switches was wrong. I called to arrange the return of the switches. I explained that I purchased them based upon false information they provided prior to my purchase. Nonetheless, they wanted me to pay return shipping to to pay a 20% restocking charge, despite the fact that I purchased them based upon the false information they gave me. It is my individual, personal, subjective opinion, belief, and interpretation that I was ripped off by this company. Therefore, it is my individual, personal, subjective opinion, belief, and interpretation that the company is incompetent, dishonest, and/or unethical. "Don't do it. I purchased my first set of string lights costing $500-600 and two years and a few weeks later they were no longer working (just past the warranty of course). So they gave me a small discount on the next set and promised up and down that these were new technology and I could expect them to last for 5 years (by the amount of time I use them). I kid you not, after hanging off the side of the roof for 3 hours removing and replacing the lights I turn them on and on three sides there are huge gaps where certain lights don't work. (Of course I turned them on, unspooled the entire set prior to installing and the lights came on, but it's when you switch to different colors that some don't). Who knew? So I contact the company and even though I just put them up (just put them up!) and they weren't working immediately, they tell me this:
Rain is not the only moisture that can damage the lights, humidity can quickly destroy lights as well which is why I like to offer words of caution. Our policy as listed on our site, states that we will send replacement sections and all necessary products such as splices when there is a failure and we can only offer a full replacement in certain circumstances such as 30% of a spool or more. In this case you only have 3 sections so we cannot offer a full replacement but we can send those replacements and this way you will not need to take the whole strand down to replace. I do apologize for the inconvenience of the failed sections. If you would like to go ahead with the warranty, please let us know and we can get that going for you.
I said no to splicing in three sections (how long would that last?) and said I want $200 back to settle it -- since I didn't want to spend another 3 hours hanging off the roof to take them down, send them in, and then another 3 hours to set up new ones that might or might not work. I only asked for $200 to end it and no response.
Buy lights anywhere else. Go to China. Anywhere. Don't get them at Bird Dog Lighting."
"I purchased 10 premade 19" strips from Birddog Distributing - Warm White LED Strip Light - 120 Volt - High Output (SMD 5050) on 2/23/2017. Now, three years, 9 months later, 5 of the 10 do not work. It is after the warranty period and would expect 1 or 2 to quit working but not 50%. I cannot recommend this lighting."
