"DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AVALON GADGETS unless you want to get ripped off. This business is what makes doing Interent business bad. It is not a good company to deal with. They are not honest and overcharge your credit card if you purchase anything from them.

I purchased a Canon Powershot A70 digital camera from Avalon Gadgets for listed price of $148.24. When it was shipped, my credit card was billed a total of $183.12 and the camera although brand new in the box did not come with a card, so it's basically useless without it. This company charged me $19.76 for shipping charges and $15.12 in tax. Their salesperson was rude and hung the phone up on my wife. I will never buy anything from this store again. They are not very friendly and are not very honest.

"DO NOT BUY FROM AVALON GADGETS. Hey, that looks familiar.... almost everyone who orders from them says that, I wonder why?

I am one of the unfortunate ones that found this site AFTER I placed my order with Avalon Gadgets. Everything you read here is true. Here is my story.

1) On Tuesday November 9th I emailed Avalon about PART #: PEGUX50/U (Sony Clie). I asked if it was 'BRAND NEW (not refurbished, not used, not 'near new', not 'almost new')'. They replied with 'The product is New'. Sweet!

2) On Wednesday November 10th I emailed regarding express shipping costs to Canada. They told me 'The Express Delivery is about $69.99'.

3) On Wednesday November 10th at 8:42pm I placed my order and chose expedited shipping (I figured the price should be between ground and express shipping).

4) On Thursday November 11th I emailed Avalon inquiring as to what they charged me for shipping (as NO WHERE on their website does it specify shipping costs other than ground shipping), when the package will be shipped, and when I could get a tracking number. They told me they charged $580.99 to my credit card, and did not reply to the other questions. So, $515.79 for the product and $65.20 for expedited shipping. Darn, I should have got express shipping.

5) I emailed them back immediately and asked about my other questions (when will it be shipped, and would I get a tracking number).

6) They emailed back and said 'The order will be sent tomorrow and the tracking # can be viewed by clicking the Order Status Button on our home page.'

7) I figured since they did not ship the item yet, I might as well ask if I can pay 'around' $5.00 more for express shipping. So I did. They replied with 'Sure, we can do that!'

8) As a result (I found out later) they charged my credit card $6.99. This is fine, but they never mentioned what the charge would be.

9) On Thursday November 11th I queried their 'tracking number' on ups.com and fedex.com, and nothing. I emailed them to inquire, and they told me 'The tracking # is for USPS and it is being sent out today!'. Odd.

10) I asked 'How is there a tracking number if it has not been sent out yet? Why has it not been sent out yet? I ordered it on Wednesday, and
expected it to be at least shipped out by Thursday. My Visa card called me asking about the transaction, and I am getting
a little weary about it.' to which they replied 'The tracking # is issued by a computer and the package is sent out through a Post Office. The order will be sent out today!'

11) Right about then I was getting worried, as I had found this site and read the terrible reviews. My credit card company called asking about the transaction (as I have never spent around $800.00 CAD on my credit card). I quickly emailed them back and asked 'What time today? Will I be able to track it today? I have read some complaints from some other customers, that is why I am getting worried. No offence.'

12) On Friday November 12th they replied with 'We process over 3000 orders a day and there's no way to tell what time today. The tracking should be available within 2 days on www.usps.com In the mean time just relax and await your order.'. So I relaxed. and waited until the following Tuesday.

13) On Tuesday November 16th usps.com still had no info about my tracking number. The number is valid, but they just don’t have any info about it. Weird.

14) BEGIN CUSTOMER IGNORE NOW.

15) Ya, so I emailed asking about the tracking number, it went something like this 'Hello, there is no record of item EC104634430US at www.usps.com. Any ideas?'. No reply.

16) On Wednesday November 17th I emailed again with 'Hello, once again there is no record of item EC104634430US at www.usps.com. It has been within 2 days like you said and still nothing. Why did I pay over 80 dollars for express shipping?'. No reply.

17) On Thursday November 18th I emailed yet again with 'Hi, I was wondering if you got my previous emails? I asked about the
tracking number, and how nothing is showing up at usps.com with it. Please advise. Thanks.'. NO REPLY.

18) On Thursday November 19th I emailed for the last time with 'Hello, are you ignoring my emails now? Once again usps.com does not
have my tracking number in their system. If you do not reply VERY soon, I will be forced to call Visa to reverse the order. This is getting ridiculous. There should be no reason why I paid for express shipping and not have this package yet, or at least a VALID tracking number. Thank you!'. NO REPLY!

19) On Friday November 20th (Today) I called Visa and told them my situation. They put the order in dispute and will try to take care of it.

20) I have been sick to my stomach about this issue and I regret every moment of using Avalon Gadgets. They seemed pretty nice and fast to respond before the order (or should I say before the money cleared in their account), but after that, good luck getting a response.

DO NOT BUY FROM AVALON GADGETS, YOU WILL REGRET IT, I KNOW I DO!

"On 9/9/04 I purchased a Canon Powershot Digital Camera. I had no problems with customer service and delivery. The camera was shipped on Thursday afternoon and I got it on Friday at 11am. Everything was intact and in good working order. I would use Avalon Gadgets again.

Customer Service and Sales team were very nice and professional. I was nervous about not getting my camera on time, so I sent numerous e-mails and always received a response within 30 minutes.

The order arrived on time and I was proven that Avalon Gadgets can be trusted and all my worries were a waste.

The price was very low and fast delivery. That is all I can say.

"Great to do business with. The item arrived before expected and in perfect condition. Great price and I received my product before I expected it to arrive.

No problems or follow up required. It was easy and straight forward transaction, which rsulted in a HAPPY customer for Avalon Gadgets.

48 hours after my purchase I sent an email asking for the tracking #. I received the package about an hour before the email was sent to Avalon Gdagets by my wife at home. How can you beat that!

With the holidays around the corner, Avalon Gadgets jusat gained another loyal customer for the upcoming holiday shopping season.

"I placed an order on 11/1/2004 and today, 11/4/2004 my order arrived. I was very amazed at the speed my order was processed and delivered. The camera I ordered is exactly as advertised and the price I paid was one of the lowest. I am extremely happy with Avalon Gadgets and will most definitely shop with them again. "I ordered my CanonA70 Digital Camera and received a phone call the same day to confirm my order. The polite salesman did suggest a few items I might need with my new camera and there is nothing wrong with that. He was not rude or pushy like some or most East Coast camera salespeople I have had to deal with in the past. I paid an extra $15.00 for 3 day shipping with UPS and my digital camera showed up on the morning of the second business day after I placed my order – a very pleasant surprise. Everything that was supposed to be in the box with my camera was there, including the important USA warranty card. I have nothing but praise for Avalon Gadgets.

Ditto, ditto, ditto! We will order here again! Great customer service, selection in stock, product explanations and pictures, prices, and speed!

"I received the Fuji S3000 Camera I ordered. It was exactly as described and worked perfectly right out of the box. I was a little hesitant about ordering from you so I tried to call and received confirmation by telephone, so I took a chance. I ordered on your website and received a confirmation call back within a half hour. The next day I received an email confirmation of shipping and a UPS tracking number. The camera arrived on the day UPS said it would. Your price and service were excellent and I will definitely tell my friends and order from you again!

"Please DO NOT USE AVALON GADGETS. I am a business professional...I have ordered numerous items over the Internet...I cannot recall in recent years a less pleasant experience with an Internet company.

1. I ordered a JABRA 250 headset on 9/14/2004.
2. The company assured me at time of order product was in stock and would be mailed immediately…that was the only reason I agreed to pay the $15.00 for shipping.
3. I watched the company website for status on the order and tried to use the UPS tracking # they provided to monitor progress. The Avalon Gadget website said from day one the item had been shipped...it had not. UPS site said the Tracking # was good, but that it simply meant the tracking # had been reserved and nothing had been shipped. In fact, Avalon Gadgets did not give the package to UPS until 9/28/2004 at 7:45PM.
4. During this process, I emailed customer service (what a misnomer) at Avalon Gadgets (they do not offer a customer service phone number.) I emailed the company asking for status on the order on 9/22/2004 at 6:45AM.
5. No response.
6. On 9/23/2004 at 3:15PM, I emailed the company again asking for someone to contact me...as of 9/30/2004, I am still waiting on that contact. (In both emails I provided my contact information.)
7. My concern grew due to the lack of contact, and I began searching the Internet for other problems reported regarding Avalon Gadgets...within minutes I found numerous complaints stating the company overcharges its customers, sends faulty products, won't call you back, charges exorbitant amounts for returns, files negative credit information if you try to fight for the money they overcharged, and so on.
8. I immediately contacted my credit card company, and found out that Avalon Gadgets did in fact overcharge my credit card by about $6.00. (It is not the $6.00…it is the principle.)
9. I was concerned that Avalon Gadgets could hit my card again if they chose to, so I cancelled my credit card, and ordered a new one shipped.
10. I then went to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and filed a complaint...it is currently being processed. I am attempting to file a complaint with the Idaho Attorney General (I believe they are in Idaho based on their area code) and the Better Business Bureau and I am including the negative experiences of others I have found on the web to this point. The Internet would shut down if all companies were like Avalon Gadgets…NO ONE would use the Internet.
11. The product was finally delivered on 9/29/2004 at 5:33PM, and it works. It was mailed via overnight service through UPS.

If you have already ordered from Avalon Gadgets, I would imagine you are regretting it exceedingly right now…Please, Please, Please go to the FTC complaint site at:

and make a complaint. You may email me if you like at ****@****. I can say with complete certainty I will never order from Avalon Gadgets or anyone I know to be associated with the company.

"Delivery speed was excellent. They upgraded my shipping to 2nd day delivery for free. Great customer service. Very friendly! I would definitely shop here again and recommend them to everyone. Another vendor (AMPhotoWorld) was a nightmare to work with and they cancelled my order since I wouldn't give in to their pushy sales department.
