"scam....
i was lead to believe the ipod i purchased was going to be new in box. it arrived used and the serial number didnt match the box. it took atleast 8 days to arrive and it was a birthday present for my 7 year old daughter who was disappointed. i will never do business again with these people. i have reported it to my credit card company to handle.

"(BE CAREFUL THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF)I bought a Camera from this company it not only came broken but the box was clearly opened and resealed. The warranty card was not present with the item. I proceeded to ask them about the warranty card they started to give me the run around I sent the camera back to them they claimed that the never received the camera even though the package was tracked back to them"

"This guy is a scam artist.
I was sold a new camera and received a referbished one. I was quoted one price and charged nearly $60 more than that on my credit card. I contacted Avalon and got the state tax charge lie. Sorry but my state doesn't charge 30% tax. Besides I live in Missouri therefore no state tax was to be charged. My last email to him was for him to send me a detailed list of all charges. I did not get a response. I put in a claim to my credit card and got my money back. Avalon didn't respond to the credit card company but they did send my name and address to a collections company who now added another $80 to the bill. Am I frustrated yes.

"Do not order from this company. They charge sales tax after your order confirmation sent via email stating no refunds. Very poor and rude customer service. Camera received in an open box that was retaped. Missing warranty card and memory card that was to come in "New" product per manufacturer site information. I am disputing partial charge for the above two items. I have read other reviews after my purchase and found many people treated the same way as I was. I was fortunate that I received my camera in pristine condition and working order. I am sure it is refurbished though after reading the other reviews. Not what I paid for at all! Don't deal with these folks.
Update...40706...I disputed the sales tax charge on my credit card as well as the amount I would pay for the memory card on the Avalon website. Avalon did not respond to my dispute so I have been credited both items. My camera is great but only because I got lucky. Do yourselves a big favor and never buy anything from these guys. Or guy for that matter as it seems it is a one person show. You can PM me if you would like additional details.

"Camera was shipped and returned for exchange. The box in which it arrived had been opened before and retaped shut. We never touched camera. When camera arrived back to Avalon, they called and said it was broken, refused to take it back. Camera had never been taken out of the box here. Refuse to accept refund, even though they cannot establish it wasn't broken when sent.

Totally disatisfied. Further action will be taken.

"I ordered a Casio camera from Avalon Gadgets. I received an order confirmation saying that it would be shipped soon. In the order confirmation it stated "If an order arrives defective please e-mail ****@**** so we may address the issue immediately." There are 2 reasons that I will NOT shop with Avalon again. 1. They did not reply to my first 3 emails about the order status. I sent the first email 1 week after the order confirmation.
2. The camera arrived on Jan 13, 2006. Parts of the camera do NOT work properly so I sent an email as I was directed in the Order Confirmation. The response was "All technical questions must be addressed directly with the manufacturer." That is NOT what the Order Confirmation said needed to be done.

"I was seduced by the low prices of Avalon Gadgets and I was lucky enough to purchase a Canon Powershot SD200 for a low price a week before they increased their retail price by $18.00. E-mail correspondence was very fast, informative and professional. But processing orders were slower than anticipated and I have yet to receive my shipment. Mind the tax charged because their tax rate is a bit inflated and they do not tax in accordance to respective residence. Also, tax is incurred after the addition of shipment fees, which is not taxable according to the Board of Equalization since it is a service. For expensive purchases, this can cost you more than if you were to purchase items at another vendor. So, do your own math and double check the totals on your own. I encourage e-mail correspondence BEFORE purchasing to get the best idea of your purchase total because the amount of tax charged is not shown on your initial invoice via Avalon Gadgets' website. I will no longer do business with Avalon Gadgets. So future patrons, proceed with caution."

"The sales representative called me after I e-mailed the company requesting some information. The suggestions he made were very helpful and honest. He was very knowledgeable, and I must say again HONEST. He told me that the more expensive item I wanted to get was overkill for me and explained in detail what I needed. I checked the manufacturer’s website, and everything he said was correct.
I followed his advice and placed the order on the website. About a minute after I completed the online checkout I received an e-mail confirmation of the order. The order arrived 2 days later, professionally packaged and exactly what I bought was in the box. Thank you!

"Item was advertised as new. When I received the obviously opened and used SONY digital camera and wrote to Avalon Gadgets they said that it was new, but had been a demonstration model. After taking the camera on a trip I found that the flash was defective. Upon returning from my 10 day trip I wrote to them about this problem as well as the fact that they charged my credit card $345 instead of $292.48 that appeared on my checkout on-line statement. Regarding the problem with the flash, they told me to contact the manufacturer. Regarding the jacked up price on my credit card bill, they claimed that they added tax and that there was a $30 rebate from Sony that they added to the price and I could get the rebate back from Sony by submitting it to Sony. The Avalon Gadget website made no mention of the rebate at all, leading the customer to believe that the price they advertised did not include the rebate. In reviewing other comments about this company, I see that this is all common practice for them. "

"These guys (or this one guy) is a fraud.
1) I order a Canon SD300 digital camera, which said explicty NEW on the on-line order form.
2) I signed off on a next day delivery, total about $290, no tax as I am in CA, not NY as the company, but was charged about $315 without agreement. On inquiry, the guy says that he has a business presence in CA with Tax ID #TF2182639, but refuses to give me the address, just mentions Mission Beach, CA.
3) I received that camera after one day, but it is REFURBISHED. Interestingly, 3 cut-outs are on the original Canon package box, that eliminated the "refurbish" evidence. The cut-outs were trivially covers with UPS stickers.
4) I am going to ask my credit card company to revert charges based on non-approved charges and faulty merchandise, and see what happens.
5) .. will fill in conlusions after I have them.

Definitely stay away from this on-line store.

"Hi
I would say internet business is risky as you can not held any person responsible for the product you receive. Recently I purchased a Canon SD 200 camera from this store. I even called the seller and talked on phone and asked that "is it a used refurbished or brand new " and he laughed and said "why I am insisting asking this question over and over" and my fear was exactly what I thought. The seller mentioned that the product is brand new, but when it arrived it was in a open box with bunch of United Postal stickers on it giving the impression that it was opened by the Customs but the fact is it was shipped through UPS not Postal service, Other thing is that the Scan was removed , uptill this point it was ok but, when I opened the Camera it had CLEAR USE MARKS ON IT. Even the shutter button had a big scratch clearly visible. Contacted seller he said " this is OEM product and it is mentioned on our website " It was not at all satisfactory purchase. I asked about the warranty papers and the seller responded ,I dont have to worry about that stuff as this product is already under warrenty......Strange! I asked the seller that the camera has no SD card provided by the Canon, the seller said that he on the phone asked me to buy one. So now if I contact the seller again the first thing he will say is that send the item back and he will refund the product after 20 % restocking fee and I will be loosing over US $ 100 for sending it back and paying restocking fee. If i had bought it from any local store I wouldn t be in such a kiosk...........Not a good experience, buy only 5-10 dollar worth of good not in Hundreds.
