"Don’t Buy a Wavetrac by Autotech
I wanted to post this for anyone considering having a Wavetrac differential installed. Mine has been a problem since day one. Check out the sound when going from Reverse to Neutral – listen to the sound at 6 sec, 9 sec and 13 seconds.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGXxKYyWiDA

I had the diff installed at High Horse Performance and noticed the noise shortly after getting home. I brought it back (90 miles) and they spent over 2 hours diagnosing the issue: checking the halfshafts, drive shaft, etc. They concluded the issue was in the rear diff so they took the rear apart and checked for signs of wear, anything broken. Nothing – which lead to concluding the issue was within the diff.

They contacted Wavetrac to get a replacement and they won’t send a replacement diff! I sent them the YouTube link and Josh/Bruce confirmed the testing they did. Dana Clark, their engineer responded to us with ”I don't know what could make a clink noise without something being actually broken in the diff...”. So his engineering assessment is that something must be broken inside the diff, HHP said the diff is the culprit yet no warranty service.

I spoke to Ryan Viaeu at Autotech, who told me that HHP is their largest purchaser of the Wavetrac yet apparently Autotech doesn’t trust them, or thinks they are hacks, because they will only agree to inspect the diff. That’s right – have me drive back to HHP, take it out of my car, ship it to California so they can diagnosis it, and then repair or send a new one from California once they confirm it’s bad.

From Autotech’s website: “Continuing Customer Service - All parts sold by Autotech include a Lifetime Warranty. Autotech warrants all products (sold either directly, or through one of its authorized dealers,) to the original purchaser for the life of the vehicle on which the product is installed”.
What kind of warranty are they providing when to get your defective part replaced, they can’t trust the judgment of top notch MOPAR builders who spent hours diagnosing the problem and want to put up hurdles to making good on their promise by taking your car out of commission for weeks?

What’s worse is their sales rep just kept stating we need to see the product for ourselves to determine if our part is bad. He didn’t care about all the time that was spent diagnosing the problem. This is not a company that is focused on the customer. Their actions clearly show they are interested in taking your money and that’s it. If you want to roll the dice on their product, go ahead. But bare this in mind - my Challenger had no issues when it was installed, I had over 10Kmiles and the car was almost 3 yrs old.

So if you want to buy from a company that sells a defective product, ignores their warranty pledge and stonewalls your efforts to get a replacement, go ahead.

Buyer beware and patronize Autotech at your own risk!

"Had a great first experience with Autotech. I requested a shipping method not offered on their website and they were glad to accommodate me.

Got my item quickly and safely, what more can you ask for? I'll definitely be using them in the future.
