"DO NOT BUY from this company!

I researched their website looking for an air cleaner that would remove odor and chemical smell for a bedroom. Their site lists a Satisfaction Guarantee, 100% refund if not completely satisfied, no questions asked. They also provided a link to authorized retailers where I found a link to Alpha Electronics.

I purchased a Healthmate Jr Air Cleaner through Alpha Electronics and noted upon receipt it was shipped directly from Austin Air's location in Buffalo, NY.

Immediately after starting the fan I noticed a bad smell coming from the unit. I let in run for several hours, noting the instructions indicate to let run for at least 2 hours on high. Not only did this thing not clean the ordor and chemical smell as advertised, it added it's own smell to the room.

Austin Air refuses to honor their guarantee, claiming since I didn't buy directly from them, it didn't apply. Their website and written material with the unit make no mention of requiring a direct purchase. They also conveniently ignore the fact it was shipped directly from their location even though purchased through the online authorized seller Alpha Electronics.

Both companies refer me to the other for resolution and both companies refuse to resolve the problem by either replacing this DOA unit or providing a full refund."
