"Started a search for my father in July of 14, was roped into the free 7 day trial by their sponsored google ads, and of course I forgot to cancel on time. As such I was charged for July. After realizing the charge on my bank statement I cancelled the account online, and assumed the matter handled. Not until November did I realize the sneaky little $8 monthly charge was still being taken out of my account. I called the merchant and after literally 15 mins of hold time I spoke to someone who, after 20 mins of conversation and more hold time while she "looked up my account" I was told 1) yes I do see you signed up in July 2) Yes I do see you cancelled in July 3) I do not see payments you "claim" appeared on your statement since August. Her resolution was that somehow my bank is still just charging my card, as she has no record of receiving money. She asked and searched for additional emails to no avail, and then ended the conversation telling me to call my bank and dispute. After an hour of frustration, naturally I declined to chase 24 bucks... I didn't see a charge in December and assumed that "magically" Archives.com remembered not to charge me and considered the money a loss.... Until January when again I was charged this sneaky $8 monthly fee. I called my bank who promptly told me that of course there is no way that a vendor requested automatic transfer can continue to happen, payments post, and they not appear anywhere on their side. - duh! She entered in a dispute for me, gave me some approval codes, and then hung up. I called Archives.com again... just to see what would happen, and hey hey hey... not the 1st try but the third try the rep was able to find my account... Should have made me happy until she said that she could only refund the last 3 charges.... I explained I called in November and she stated that banks would not accept refund requests older than 90 days... but that she would only refund Jan, Nov, & Sept . (which btw is 120 days), but not August. she then gave me the email address to dispute the outstanding charges she could not refund. I asked what she did different to find my account, and she couldn't give me answer. I asked if there was indeed an extra email associated with my cc# and to that she also said there was not. I have no other choice but to call foul play, and assume that before the purchase of archives.com by ancestory.com the way they paid bills monthly is thousands of these sneaky little $8 monthly charges... Very dissatisfied is not the rating I'd like to give. "Very" is not sufficient "
