Closed my Account with paid orders without notice

"Terrible account policy or whatever they think they're doing. I actually cancelled 2 of my months long Nendoroid preorders from other site bc I thought it's cheaper here. I provided them all my information and credit card info. After weeks with no update on the orders, I went back to the site to check just to know they closed my account without even sending me an email notifying about it. I contacted them and they said it's closed bc my HOUSE ADDRESS is used by another acc and all who lived in the same house should use ONLY 1 ACCOUNT. Like do they even have an idea what's privacy is? Or at least use some cents to send an email to your customer tell them about the problem. Why AmiAmi so CHEAP about it? I'm surprised this site is famous. The preorders are all closed so get gud right? They basically treat their customer like $#*!. Please save yourself the time, if you are unlucky getting into trouble they have no regard for you, only for their profit."

"Ordered a Nino Nakano figure and it came just as described. The shipping was incredibly fast, my only complaint was the tracking wasn't updating at all. Otherwise 10/10!"

Bad service, non personal

"Good store until you run into a problem with them...the worst customer service, very rude , non-personal people. They address you by your email first letters. And then close your account without even talking to you. I've been their customer for 2 years and spent thousands of dollars every year and they treated me like a nobody. When they didn't deliver my last package for 2 months i had to ask for my money back they got mad and closed my account. "

Horrible Customer Service. change policy without notification.

"I placed special order months ago for 3 items, totaled to just about $250. When I got the e-mail stating that my order was ready and awaiting payment. I went to try and pay for it, I could not. According to AmiAmi they said because of the "high value" of my orders, the payment needed to be done via paypal. They won't take credit card payments. I responded by telling them I do not have a paypal account nor do I wish to open a paypal account. They in turn said, ok, for this special case, they will allow credit card payment. So I went to pay for the orders again, and still could not. I reached out again and explained. Their response was basically, well we changed our mind, your order is high value, so it needs to be done by paypal. SERIOUSLY? its a order fro $250!!! THAT'S HIGH VALUE? I've done toy purchases over $3000. I routinely buy toys over $1000, those might be considered high value, but at $250?!?! Simply unbelievable.

If they would of indicated that payment needed to be in paypal when i first ordered, then that would be fine. I would of not even bother to bought from them at all. But the fact is they made me wait several months THEN changed the payment requirement. That is unacceptable. So now my order is canceled. GREAT customer service AmiAmi. Already told them to delete my account. Too many other websites out there for me to deal with them.

Order did not arrive...

"I ordered from them on January 25, still haven't received my order, on account it is an unregistered parcel. Yet, I ordered from another online shop from Germany with unregistered parcel, it arrived on time despite the distance of my home country. I will not recommend this shop and will not order again."

DO NOT BUY FROM AMIAMI in Japan!

"I ordered one Sailor Moon Rainbow Moon Proplica in Brand New condition, and received the item with a lot of damages on the item box. Some may be fine with such damages, but to some collectors like me, a lot of dents and damages on the brand new item's box are not understandable. It seems they send damaged items to customers outside Japan since we won't be able to go to the physical store and get a replacement or a refund.
I did not open the box, and I asked for a full refund. They refused. They told me to file a claim with the Post Office and send them a copy, then Japan Post will compensate me for up to 6,000 Yen. I got an email yesterday or two days ago, saying Japan Post refused, and Amiami can not offer me any kind of compensation whatsoever. When I told them I would still return the unopened item for a full refund, they said they will not give me any compensation and will just think that the customer no longer wants the item.
STAY AWAY FROM AMIAMI! DO NOT BUY FROM AMIAMI!
There are so many good Japanese toy websites. Use other more professional Japenese toy stores. WILL NEVER BUY FROM AMIAMI and will continue to spread my word and pictures on a number of Internet communities.

"I have ordered 3 different item from AmiAmi: D-Arts Mewtwo, a Goku candy figure, and SAS Parasyte Shinichi and Migi set. I used tracking on two and one without tracking. I have never had a problem from them in that department.
I would say their pre-order and shipment guessing game takes so much time to get fixed considering they're based out of Japan. Here in the U.S. I have to wait from them after a few days and not within the day that I would prefer. The breakdown: if you need to make changes on info for the shipment etc, it is tedious. But other than that...they are a solid company.

"Bad handle & poor care to customer when problem occur
I purchased a pre-owned Limited Edition figure with normal SAL shipping service from amiami around end of December 2014. Item didn't arrive in maximum arrival time (2 months). Contacted amiami during end of Jan 2015 (standard reply given & i continue wait), seek for local post office for my item but wasn't there. End of Feb 2015 contacted with them again after max arrival time & mail with amiami ended up need to ask for invoice reference, amiami provide wrong invoice details & i pin point to them. Reply given was not pointing the right section & they stopped responding after that...Yet i check with Local HQ post office still no sign of my package....

Lesson learned & to share:
Tracking number shipping is important to minimize trouble, amiami is not professional after all after this bad experience because they don't really take extra well care on their customer whom in trouble after sale.

"I usually like to order my merchandise from HLJ, but their stock isn't the widest, so I decided to try another shop to get some other things I was interested in. Their prices look reasonable and are on par with many other Japanese anime merch shops.

And like many of those anime merch shops, the search function is atrocious - they don't have a button to filter out out-of-stock items, so you get everything from the beginning of time that matches your keyword. (Though you can do it manually by fiddling with the search parameters in the URL bar). It makes it very difficult to just browse; you would need to know in advance the name of the exact item you're looking for.

Also, they use the same site for their Japanese customers. AmiAmi English version is simply the translated version. Meaning that a lot of the items on the site are only for shipping within Japan (you would need to have a forwarding service to be able to order them). I noticed this was the case for a number of figures.

They don't show the weight of items, so you have no way of guessing how much your package is going to weigh. You are supposed to select your shipping option before you place your order, and they offer about 4 different methods. I wasn't too happy to get billed for a much more expensive shipping option in the email I was sent. Fortunately, when I went to the site to pay, they gave me two shipping options that were basically the same price (about $33) but different speeds. I had heard from other buyers that you can ask them to spilt up orders to make the shipping cheaper, but since they don't tell you the total weight, there's no way to know whether it would fit in 2 separate small packet shipments.

My last complaint is with their "end of the month" ordering system. They say that you can order as much as you like during the month, select that you want the order grouped with other orders later. I took this to mean that I would get a bill during the last week of the month, and so would be free to place several orders. I placed 2 orders in June, asked for the grouping option, but was sent a shipping bill on the 17th. That's more than 10 days before the end of the month.

Overall positives: wider selection than some other merch shops

Overall negatives: browsing is clunky, shipping options mysterious, and I wouldn't recommend using them unless you want to get one item that you really need that you can't get anywhere else.

"For me its the best site for buying otaku stuff. Their customer service is phenomenal and their prices are pretty good as well. My only pet peeves are they will only give you the shipping cost after you confirm your pruchase of the item. The problem here is that they dont allow you to cancel items in most cases so just shop carefully. Moving on, their offer combined shipping on monthly orders which is really helpful in my opinion. You can be sure their items are all authentic as well. Buy without fear, amiami is the best in the business!"
