"I tried to buy a camera from them after Google Shopping (shame on you, Google) had pointed them out as the cheapest choice for a Nikon Coolpix L840. But since I'm not from the USA and I'm leaving soon, I decided to go to one of their "physical" stores, 12055 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL.
What would be my surprise when, upon arriving there (after loosing the entire morning going all way north to Miami, instead of spend it on the beach or anywhere else than traffic), the location indeed exists, BUT IT'S A HOME DEPOT!!! So I came back to the hotel, connect to Internet and search for reviews. Long story short, thank God I tried to do the purchase in person, because online I'd lost my money for sure.
Stay away from these scammers, they are just that: Plain old thieves."
"As others have said this is a scam company. They never answer their emails, and when you talk to them they tell you your item has been shipped but you never receive anything. Just be safe and not sorry as I am. If it sounds to good to be true, that is exactly what it is! I have resorted to going back and filing a complaint with my credit card company. Don't buy from American Camera Company. By the way they are located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33304. You will notice on the website no mention of any city or state. The attorny general of Florida needs to shut this outfit down."

"These guys don't even deserve 1 star. Their customer service is the worst I've ever seen.
Ordered a camera from them on April 6th, 2015. Called every few weeks to get a tracking number and was continually told that there was a delay in getting the camera and it was just going to take more time. Fast forward to August 3rd, 2015. I called to see if there was tracking information only to understand that this camera is completely discontinued and my card has been refunded. I asked why no one told me this, and they had no answer. Just awful awful awful customer service. "
"Seriously underhanded company. I recently purchased a Leica C camera on line from their website and within an hour of purchase received a call inviting me to purchase accessories including a back up battery, a large video memory card and a genuine Leica camera case. The items did not arrive and after I emailed and then called 2 weeks later, I was told they were on 'back order from Germany'. When the items arrived, now nearly one month from ordering, the accessories were cheap and not what was stated: not a Leica case ( nylon generic video cam case ) and no extra battery and the media card a cheap chinese 8Gb card. When I called them, 9 calls later ( and 50 minutes on hold finally the 'account manager' called 'Roger' called me back, they claimed the camera was a much higher price than stated on the original website,and therefore the refund for the accessories would be less than 1/3 of what was paid. Suddenly an email was sent to me today itemizing for the first time the accessories and in an attempt to justify their illegitimate partial refund. These guys are real con artists-beware! Beware of their 7 day refund policy, they try to postpone returns because of it."
"Scam. The sales guy was rude and hung up on me. They try to sell you a "bundle" then tell you it doesn't come with anything, batteries even are extra ($89!) and the "battery that you see in the pic is a ONE TIME USE battery"! What??

These guys are liars and rip offs and I wish I'd known before I placed my order! I cancelled my order but I still entered my credit card number.

I called after I had placed an order for a camera because the priced looked "too good" when the gentleman told me it did not come with anything except the camera body only (no batteries, strap, manual) I asked him to cancel my order and I was going to do more research before ordering again. He immediately got defensive and said the website stated camera body only with no manual, etc.. WRONG. The website had nothing to suggest it did not even come with a manual. He tried to up sell me several times and I declined. When I asked him to cancel and provide me a confirmation number. He hung up on me. So shady, I immediately called my bank to make sure they don't allow a charge as it seemed to shady. Definitely won't take my business here. Based on these reviews its obvious: don't stay far away...RUN from this seller. "
"If you shop at AmericaCamera read the fine print. You don't get the promised price if you use a credit card. You will be sold 'extras' like memory and batteries for over market prices. When I called to cancel my order (they charge 3.5% for cancellations) they told me the order had shipped. However when the package arrived, the shipping date was 2 days after my call. And the package? It appeared to be a return item or a demo. I looked at the RMA proscriptions, and you're basically trapped. At least the camera works."

"I wish I had read the reviews before ordering. The camera I ordered was on "backorder" and no effort was made to keep me updated. I'd call and they'd give me another couple of weeks on the delivery date. I finally gave up and went with another seller. I just thought they were extremely incompetent. If it is a scam site designed to collect info, they are doing a good job. If they are a real camera store, then they suck."
"After reading the reviews here I decided to call and talk to someone before ordering. I asked about Memory Cards because they have listed on their website a deal for buy 1 memory card get one free. The sales rep responded with asking what camera I was interested in buying. I then told him that I read awful reviews online about them and that I had questions about products and did not want him to upsell me and that I would appreciate if he would answer yes or no to my questions. He hung up on me.
I called back to try again just to see what would happen if I asked for a manager. After being put on hold to be transferred to a manager the call disconnected.
I called back Yet Again to talk to someone and decided to ask about the products I was looking at just to see what they would say. After asking about the camera and lens both items were more expensive then the website listed. I wasn't considering ordering based on the reviews here and after the sales rep told me the in inflated prices (camera on site: $389 over the phone: $499. Lens on site: $505 over the phone $799) I told him that 2 of his coworkers had hung up on me and that I just wanted to say one thing to him. "F_ck You." His response was "Same to you" and he hung up.
Do yourself a favor and don't even bother with this company. It's clearly a scam."
"After seeing two drastically different prices for the same lens (Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM II) on two separate pages of their website (one was listed at $1495.00 and the other $2499.99) I called the phone number listed to see if I could get some detailed information. I waited for what seemed like an eternity to elevator music and was near deciding to just hang up when a man finally answered with a very curt 'Can I help you?' (Those two things should have given me a clue what kind of operation this was but I proceeded on because I was very curious.) I told him that I had been searching online and noticed a discrepancy on a particular Canon lens and after telling him the two different prices listed, he explained that the lower cost lens was "only for use on film cameras" and then said he needed to know what camera body I would be using it on...I said "likely not a film camera" (I use a 5d Mark III) and he said "You will have to buy the other version...but today I could do a little bit better and it would be $2199.99." His whole demeanor just seemed 'off' so I tried speaking with him to get more information... I asked him where they were located and he told me New Jersey (the bottom of their website says United Kingdom!?!) then he suddenly interrupted me and said "I'm going to stop you right there. Call me back when you're ready buy the lens." Completely taken aback by his rudeness, I said "I'm getting the feeling that you're very impatient with me. I called you because i'm trying to make a purchase and I had questions to ask before doing so" and he said "I already told you the difference". As I was trying to explain that, yes, he did answer THAT question but customer service is extremely important to me and I was not yet done with all that I needed to ask him, HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!! I seriously couldn't believe it! I have NEVER been treated that way from a photography related company (or any other type of business for that matter!) in my entire life! This experience was all I needed to know that I won't EVER be doing business with them and you can believe that I will pass on the word to all my professional photographer friends. DO NOT GIVE THIS 'COMPANY' YOUR BUSINESS! "
"I ordered a Nikon AW130 yesterday thinking they had the best price on the internet. Today I received an email informing me that I had to contact them regarding my order before they would ship it. As soon as I did they went into sales mode and told me I had to order a battery for the camera and other accessories to make the unit complete. Also they informed me that the manual would be in Japanese. OMG what a mess. Needless to say I will be going back to Amazon.com to complete my order.
Save yourself the time and money and shop elsewhere.
In addition as I finished my online order yesterday they asked me to rate Americacameras.com and I was so excited that they had the camera in stock (so I thought) and for what I believed to be a great price at the time that I wrote a great review. So I am submitting a new review to help future customers avoid this confusion.

"I ordered a camera body from them yesterday. I couldn't find information on whether it was new or refurbished, so I asked when I called. The guy on the phone was very rude and told me it was new, BUT it was the international version of the camera. There was no information on this in the listing and there was no listing for a US version of the camera. He blamed me saying I missed the info and wanted another $200 from me for the "right" one. I asked to cancel my order instead then get an email a few minutes later saying they tried to contact me and I needed to call them again. I returned the called (at a different extension) and got what I think was the same rude customer service rep. Do not order through them. Their customer service sucks and I'm worried about the security of my personal information."
