DO NOT buy any products from Altapower, buy from ebay or Amazon, anybody except Altapower.

Returning a product to Ebay or Amazon or most anyone else would NOT result in a loss of $170. The unit was free shipping from Altapower however if returned to Altapower they wanted to charge me the original shipping cost (would seem that the shipping charge is built into the price with free shipping???) Then there is a $75.74 restocking fee from Altapower and then my cost to return the item. So $500 for original product minus $170 to return it.

Businesses complain that internet sales are hurting them, well this is a great example of why we like Amazon and ebay. So much for patronizing a business near my hometown instead of using the internet.

"I had recently purchased an item that was not going to work for me so I wanted to exchange it. It was very difficult to get a hold of any one at this company and when I did I asked if it was possible to simply drop off the item at their location, since I was going to be in CT in that area. I was told that was not possible as nobody is in that location to receive the item, that I would have to give them 48 hours notice in order for that to happen. So I said that would be fine lets set that up, at which point the guy on the phone became beligerent and told me that he was going to have to charge me his hourly rate of $250 in order to meet me during that 48 hour window. Bottom line is they would not accept any form of return unless it was shipped. The irony was that when I shipped it from NYC it arrived via UPS ground the very next day, well in advance of any 48 hour window and magically someone was there to receive it. Look if you run a business out of your home just say so but don't be rude to people who are your customers. Also we should have the right to return the item anyway we want granted it is not damaged in the process. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!"

"I placed an order with Alta Power in the afternoon for two items that I assumed would be in short supply, to my surprise I received a UPS tracking number that night. Normally this is good, but not too surprising - except I placed the order on Sunday! The shipment arrived on Tuesday complete and as ordered - add to that free shipping and I'm a happy (and now mosquito-free) camper!"
