I planned to order a TV which was on sale for $449 before $100 rebate. Imagine my surprise when the TV showed $349 before rebate once I added it to my shopping cart! I went through the order process where the "Order Review" screen told me my total was $377 after tax and free shipping. I couldn't believe my eyes when the order confirmation told me I had paid $595! There was -ZERO- notice or confirmation of the price change before I placed the order. If that wasn't enough, my CC had been authorized for another amount, $495.
I immediately tried to call their customer service number but their automated system told me that their call volume was high and hung up on me. It took 30 minutes of calling over and over as well as finally waiting on hold for 15 minutes to talk to someone.
I explained that I had bought the TV for $377 and somehow the price had changed. The CSR told me that the price CAN freely change anytime between when I place the order and when their system processes the order. I was finally "approved" to purchase the TV for $449 and told that my order wouldn't be changed to the correct price. I was lucky to catch the order before it shipped so that I could cancel it.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement. It almost felt like those bait-and-switch horror stories of the Brooklyn camera stores. I can't imagine purchasing anything again if you can't even rely on purchasing the item for the price they say you'll pay.
