I ordered a Eurolab DVD player in March from Dealsdirect which stopped working 6 weeks later. Dealsdirect is refusing to offer any help as it is more than a month since purchase. While the express warranty is only a month I pointed out that just because a manufacturer's warranty is expired does not mean you are absolved of all responsibility to the customer. Under the Trade Practices Act, there is a statutory warranty which, put simply, stipulates that the product should function as described for a reasonable period, bearing in mind its price. It should also be of "merchantable quality".
I don't believe 6 weeks is a reasonable period irrespective of the express warranty supplied by the manufacturer. The Trade Practices Act sits above any terms and conditions a business may have.
I definitely would NOT recommend DealsDirect to anyone.
