I located a scarce item on their website (Lenovo Advanced Mini Dock for Thinkpad T60). No one else had it, so I put in the order. I called to verify availability and they called right back and confirmed shipment. Ordered Sunday, item received Wednesday (UPS Ground). Great job!!

While shopping for a killer deal on a Canon digital camera, a coworker recommended this Ebay store. They had the best package deal (camera, memory card, battery, etc.) for the model I wanted. Ordered a 10-pk of DVD+RW media. The price was competitive ($17.40) but shipping was steep ($6.89 for UPS ground). I never received an e-mail confirmation of my order, as had been promised. I e-mailed customer support to confirm the order but they did not respond. I called the number provided on the website, but the number does not go through. The order was received one week later (2/16). Unlikely that I would purchase there again. There are plenty of other places that actually respond to customers. Apparently, this is not one of them.

Ordered speakers on Tuesday, Dec. 23, with free overnight shipping and they arrived the next day as promised (JIT for Xmas). Also ordered some Grado headphones earlier in the month. Called customer service to discuss the headphones prior to purchase and they were very helpful.

My experience with Dell has been very positive. I've personally bought two systems and a couple upgrades from them, and my last two business machines have been Dells. The last system we purchased was a Dimension 4550. It has performed flawlessly. The Dimension 4100 I got a few years ago has only needed a DVD drive replacement (next day, as advertised).

Yes, they do pre-load a lot of junkware, easily remedied by a clean installation of the OS. Dell always supplies a normal Windows OEM disc, as well as discs for all pre-loaded software. Their support web site is second to none, with constant driver and software updates. Their Dell|Talk user forum is a treasure trove of information on every topic from problems to upgrades. I personally have only called Dell tech support once, when re-loading Windows (to get help loading drivers in the correct order). I was fortunate enough to get an American and he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

I recommend Dell to others often, and in the vast majority of cases, the feedback from those individuals about their purchasing and computing experience has been positive. I'm not sure why the ResellerRatings.com rating for Dell is so low, since computer magazines that do these surveys professionally have consistently rated Dell at or near the top of the major manufacturers. I cannot speak to the notion that Dell is slipping of late, since I haven't had a serious enough problem to warrant a call to tech support. Perhaps if that happens, I'll come back and update this review.

Found a deal on Techbargains for the Warcraft III expansion set (Frozen Throne) for $27 with free priority mail shipping. Ordered on Wednesday and received Thursday. Can't beat the combination of a great price and fast shipping!

Ordered a Startech Slotket (slot 1 to socket 370 converter) and CPU fan. Good prices, reasonable S&H (but not free) and fast shipping. The Slotket as it turned out was incompatible (not their fault), so I decided to return it. The RMA process was very easy, just go to the site, enter the requested information and they assign the RMA #, then mailed it back.

Ordered a "Super Slocket III", as they seemed to be one of the few vendors that still carry them. They had a good price and ordering was straight-forward, although $5 in S&H for a $5 item is a bit stiff. Ordered Friday, received the following Thursday. And it works!!
