PowerNotebooks.
Rating 10/10 5/5
modified review posted Sep-02-2012

I ordered a PowerPro notebook for my son's college work.
My son is starting engineering school and is an avid on-line gamer as well.
We decided on a Windows based notebook, and Powernotebooks had all the customization you could want.
We decided on a nice Powerpro based on the newest IvyBrigde CPU and also the newest nvidia GTX680 discrete graphics.
We worked with Abe Barnett at Powernotebooks. He was great. We had a time crunch, and it was made a little more crazy by the fact that the components had just been released to builders as we made the order.
Abe kept me in the loop the whole way. He called me when the laptop was finished and ready to ship.
We ended up being one day late and my son was on his way to school. No problem, Abe had the shipping re-routed to my relatives who live 20 minutes from my son's campus.
My son is delighted with the laptop.

I have to say Powernotebooks was a breeze to work with, all my questions were answered knowlegably, and the system was comparatively cheaper than other builders for the components and needs we had.
They are personel, pleasant, quick and true to their word.
Abe was really easy to work with and he called me several times during the build.
You will not find a better builder for your laptop needs. Great service, great pricing, custom built to your needs using the most up to date components.

highly recommended.

Money Grab.

I realize my item is a very hard to get piece currently, but the TigerDirect web page is/was deceptive.
Now, I've ordered from TD a number of times and my orders have been promptly filled and delivered.
There are two things that have been consistant on this site however, over time.
One, price gouging. Hard to find or in demand items will be inflated by anywhere from 10 to 100 dollars over MSRP.
Two, you really never know if an item is in stock, back ordered, or simply unavailable.
My current item, an nvidia GTX 680 video card was listed as "usually ships in 48 hours." I guess the key word here, to be taken literally is "usually". I guess my order was "unusual", because the status as of today was listed as "forwarded to drop shipper, please allow 7 to 10 business days for processing". So usually ships in 48 hours really means.....we don't have the product and you won't see it for 2 weeks, but thanks for the money.

TigerDirect gladly charged my credit card, immediately, but sort of forgot about that little 2 week thing.....just a minor detail, right?

You ever say to yourself, "I should have known better?" Well fool me once....but really shame on me for falling for this BS. This is my last order with these guys. They are consistant in their underhanded tactics.

At least newegg has the courtesy just to list out of stock, and not "usually" we are going to stick it to you as best we can.

Enjoy my money, it's the last you'll see.

Updated: 4 May 2012
I have been in contact with TDs customer service several times this week. All I get is mis-information and delay tactics.
One guy spent an entire email discussing how they interact with their third party vendors but never answered my question, another told me to wait a couple days more, another just this morning said the item was backordered for at least two weeks.
I contacted CS this afternoon and cancelled the order, while doing do the guy tried to tell me I couldn't cancel because the order had been shipped.
I told him I had been checking my account, and didn't believe that was true....and if it was to please give me a tracking number.
Well.....he stammered and then said that the item might be shipped to TD by mid week and then forwarded to me.
I cancelled.
Strangely, this has not shown up as cancelled in my on-line account page yet, nor have I received an email confirming.
Looks like I'm going to have to dog these guys.

I'm sorry, but I would NOT recommend this store to anyone.

Very Satisfied.
This was my first buy from Superbiiz. The experience was flawless. Ordered on Friday PM and arrived Tuesday PM.
I was nervous since I haven't ordered here before.
Everything went well.
I will always give Superbiiz a look before I use my standard, Newegg.
My only gripe is shipping. This package cost three times what newegg charges for the same exact 3 day UPS services, and the box contained no packing materials, just a box in a box. That may or may not be crucial in this case as the retail packaging is very good for this product.
The pain was eased a bit by a 10 dollar instant coupon.

Other than the shipping cost the whole deal was as good as it gets.

I have ordered quite a few times from Sidewinder now, and use the store for all my watercooling parts......if possible.
I find the prices are generally the lowest anywhere, the shipping costs low and the turn-around time minimal.
Using the Postal Service has the advantage of 2-3 day transit and Saturday delivery which is excellent.
I have never been dissatisfied, my orders are always correct....and any missing pieces have always been sent out at no cost to me (only happened once).
I have found that the owners are easy to reach by phone and any questions have always been answered with helpful information.
I recommend Sidewinder frequently and will always look there first for any watercooling materials I may need.

I have used this store before with no trouble.
This current order was bullschizzle.
RugsDirect advertises free shipping on all orders over $150, period, the end.
When I placed my order, there was no shipping choice except GROUND.
OK, no problem......Ground is "free" and I had no agenda.
Apparently, the order was logged in as "expedited" shipping and a charge of $23 was added to my order. To be honest, I didn't see this on the order page, BUT I could not remove it either, when placing the order.
My rug arrived fine. Ground shipping in a standard time to ship from Virginia to New York. Nothing speedy or unusual about the shipping speed...."expedited" my arse.
After reviewing the invoice, I emailed the company to discuss the "expedited" shipping charge. I sent them the UPS label and UPS website tracking noting standard ground shipping.
I was informed that the $23 fee was an "expedited" processing fee, so that RugsDirect would process and "ready" my rug quicker than their standard 7 business day pace.......well it still took 2 business days to process this very difficult one item order......
Look, the rug was fine.
The order process was not clear and the "expedited" shipping was/is a ruse to extract more money for no extra service.....I mean come on, NewEgg charges $3 for rush processing!!
Here I was in no way in a "rush" to receive a rug!!!
I got no satisfaction out of the customer service, and was flatly denied any adjustment of the "expedited" fee. ( I had asked to split the difference.....fat chance)
So.........moral of the story.....pay attention when you order.
Finally, as I have noticed....Rugs Direct ALWAYS puts a "rug pad" into your order by default, you have to opt out of this item or you will receive it and the $50 fee.
But wait there's more.....in the confirmation email they try again to sell you the "rug pad" you opted not to buy.

Overall, I am just pissed with the way this was handled.........from now on.....rugs from Overstock, thank you.

Ordered an i7 920 on Saturday morning.
Confirmed, packed and ready for shipping all on the same day.
Excellent price, great service.
What more can you say.
Generally has top shelf stuff for a little less than other stores, or hard to find/hot items for just a couple of bucks more.
Only gripe is they don't sell much "mainstream" memory.....and that isn't really the point here.
Highly recommended.

This was my first purchase from ClubIT. I usually use Newegg and mWave. ClubIT had an item no one else was guaranteeing (Quad Core Q6600 G0 stepping) at a very good price.
Site was easy to use.
Checkout was a snap.
Item arrived on schedule and very well secured.
Customer service was great, responded on a Sunday to questions.
I will use this retailer again with confidence.

The following is an email I sent to thank Performance-PCs regarding my order. I had them modify a Lian-Li 6070B PlusII. There were some upgrades on this model that weren't apparent on the website.....
Man, I am impressed to say the least. I got a call at home this morning
from James regarding my order. He was very nice to point out the new
changes in the Lian-Li 6070 and just what I should expect to receive. He
asked very specific questions about what I had planned for the case and
where I had planned to place things I had ordered.
Talk about custom work.....We also had a conversation about an overage on my
payment; this was applied to shipping and James arranged for me to have
three day shipping on my order.
Look.....you cant buy this kind of personal attention to detail.....He even
called me back this afternoon to let me know the order was ready for
shipment.
You guys treated me like I ordered 3000 dollars worth of stuff instead of 300.
Needless to say.....from now on, I'm going to check your site first for
anything I need.......
I still cant get over the extra care I got with my order today.
James called my house twice to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. They even installed items in the case that I had planned on just being sent to me separately. I had called the Friday before to ask questions and each was answered with courtesy and the advice was spot on.
Simply put, I was treated like someone who was a premium customer, not just a guy making an order. I cant say enough about the quality treatment I was given.

Please dont do it!!!!!
Let me first say I own 2 alienware computers. They have actually worked well and I had no delivery or order problems with either one. I have noticed as the company has moved from a product primarily for extreme gaming to now offering a wide price range of computers they have started to slide into the abyss of Gateway.
this all started in July of this year. My oldest machine needed an upgrade. At the time I didnt really know enough to feel confident about a wholesale self-upgrade, so i called alienware. On their site you will see all kinds of nice stuff about how they will be happy to upgrade with you and will be happy to offer you all sorts of neat stuff at their cost......So off I went.
I felt step one would be to upgrade the power supply so I could then replace(on my own)my video card to keep pace with the newest games(Doom3 and Half-life2 were on the horizon.) I called to inquire. My only alternative was to send my 2 1/2 year old computer to Miami because replacing the power supply was "a very serious cabling upgrade". Alienware would not consider sending me a PS nor would they recommend a brand I could buy. The cost of this upgrade a mere 282$(cost to ship back, labor minimum 2 hours and 92$ for the actual PS.) Being an idiot I considered that I had never done this and said ok to the deal. That was stupid and started a tale that is still not over......
I came to my senses the next day and decided to simply order the part from Antec and do the work of all the upgrades myself. I had in the meantime discovered a company in Rochester, NY;JandN computer who would buile me a new motherboard,CPU and memory bundle and provide support to place it in my computer. I just needed to replace the PS myself(they even helped me with the details of that too.) I TRIED to call Alienware to cancel my order. Waits on the phone averaged over an hour regardless when I tried to call. I honestly tried four times but just couldnt wait over an hour to talk to someone....So I emailed over and over....Never a hint of a reply except one rather bland form letter that stated I had to call to cancel an order....Good luck.... SIX MONTHS went by and one day on my door arrives a package from Alienware. Much to my surprise it is an enermax 460 watt PS. HUH??? The charge for this PS you got it 282$.
If you have been following this rant you would see that in the first place I wa told they would not send parts like this under any circumstance, a PS had to be installed in MIAMI!!!
Well now I had A PS I didnt need and was charged as though the company had installed it and paid to ship my entire computer back to me. All without my knowlege and after 6 MONTHS!!!
This is so bizarre I cant even stand it. I called Alienware and after being on hold for over an hour was told that they would have to "look into" the matter and get back to me. It's been a month....ive called, emailed countless times, and still have had no resolution. I sent their PS back to them and have never heard a thing.
I made a mistake, I took the advice of their customer service and tried to upgrade my machine on their terms and got HOSED. I think I'm out 282$ for my stupidity as well. The story has no ending I'm sad to say.
PLEASE DONT MAKE MY MISTAKES. I'D BUY A VOODOO IN A MINUTE IF I WAS CONSIDERING A NEW SYSTEM,OR LOOK AT JNCS.COM WEBSITE IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING SELF UPGRADE FROM A COMPANY WITH EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. BEWARE OF ALIENWARE.
Update:22 Dec 04: Thanks to this post and this post alone, I was contacted by Alienware Rep Lisa E. yesterday. She researched my concerns and the entire situation was corrected. My post here accomplished what I was unable to do through the traditional channels. Thanks to this site for its strong readership and to Alienware for paying attention. Too bad it took the above to accomplish. But my genuine thanks for their response.
