I purchased some in-ceiling speakers for my home theater surround system and upon opening one of them, realized that I ordered the incorrect speakers for my application. I immediately called customer service (on a Saturday) and the representative was very courteous and helpful. As the correct speakers were in stock and the same price, she emailed me prepaid shipping label to return the speakers and set up an even exchange, waiving the standard return charge. Once they received the returned speakers, I received a confirmation email and a few days later the correct speakers were delivered. I will not hesitate to purchase from Crutchfield in the future.

After searching online and identifying the product that I wanted to purchase, I found LG to have the product in stock and at the best price. Checkout was straight-forward and they shipped promptly. I am satisfied with my purchase.

This is about the great customer service I received from Newegg today. I purchased an Arctic Cooling Silencer64 Ultra TC heatsink/fan in January 2006 from Newegg and recently noticed that the fan had stopped turning. There was significant friction even when turning it by hand. It had a 6-year manufacturers warranty and Newegg's policy is for the customer to obtain warranty service directly from the manufacturer after the one year replacement period.

Arctic Cooling, however, does not handle returns but require all returns under the 6-year warranty period to be through the dealer. I contacted Newegg customer service with this dilemma and they offered to refund me the purchase price of the heatsink/fan if I purchased a replacement from them of greater or equal value. They offered this instead of replacement with the same component as they no longer carried it.

Before I received the reply from customer service, I fixed the fan by soaking the motor and bearing with WD-40, turning it until free, and then removing all of the excess. It appears to be working perfectly, so I declined the offer from Newegg.

Although I didn't take advantage of their refund offer, they do stand behind the products that they sell.

I disassembled my Ducane gas grill expecting to have the failed parts replaced under the Ducane lifetime warranty. While researching this I found that Ducane had gone bankrupt and was purchased by Weber Grills who no longer would honor the warranty. BBQParts.com to the rescue. Not only did they have the needed parts in stock, they were priced significantly lower than any other seller I could find. Shipping was very reasonable and the correct parts were delivered less than 48 hours after I placed my order. I commend them for not taking advantage of Ducane grill owners who were left hanging.

[Update2] I received the correct product today, a month and a half after my initial order. The product was top quality and works well. The web site still does not work correctly. The product you are looking at isn't necessarily the product that will be added to your cart when you press the "Add to Cart" button. I might still purchase from them, but I will be very careful of what I order and understand that problems can take a long time to get resolved.

[Update] I finally received a response about 10 days after receiving my incorrect order (see below). They issued me an RMA number and I returned the drive for exchange October 2. Today I received notice that a package is being sent to me and I hope it is the correct drive. The email I received was courteous and apologetic. I will follow up when I receive the drive in a few days.

[original comment] As I have had success ordering from Surplus Computers in the past, I receive their email ads regularly. I had been thinking about updating my notebook computer optical drive to a DVD writer and saw they had them for sale. I click on the link in the email for the product and my browser opened a window showing it. There was another similar product shown in the email and I clicked on that to compare it and make sure I was ordering the correct drive. This opened a second browser window and I was able to determine that this would not work with my computer. I closed that browser window and was looking at the original window that I opened. I verified that this was the correct drive and clicked the "Add to Cart" button. I then proceeded to check out. At the confirmation page, I noticed that the drive on the order was not the drive that I added to my cart. It was the drive from the window that I had closed. I immediately sent an email to their "orderprocess" email address as they direct for modifying orders. I also called their phone number several times (during business hours) and could not leave a message as all the voice mail boxes I tried were full. I never got a reply to my emails and don't think they were read as I never received a return receipt. I received my order today and guess what? It was the wrong drive. I sent an email to their "RMA", "RMA2" and "websales" addresses and will wait and see if I get a reply. So far, I am disappointed that I was not able to correct this problem before the order was shipped. They now have a second chance to correct this problem.

This was my first purchase from nuLime.com. I placed the order online and received status emails for the order. Strangely, the status emails did not list any order information beside the order number, order date, and order status. My order was shipped promptly and received in good order. I would purchase from nuLime.com again.
