Here is what happened with my order:
I pre-ordered a 2DVD/3CD set from one of my favorite bands. I recieve an email saying they "could not get the proper authorization" for my credit card. I email customer service and recieve a robot response, no human. After a few of days, I decide to use a different card because I really want this box set. Won't accept anything from my account.
So I make a new account and the new credit card goes through just fine. I recieve three emails (aside from their DAILY spam):
1 - order confirmation
2 - shipment notification (with tracking number)
3 - order cancellation (wtf?)
The order cancellation tells me they ran out of this box set (limited run item) and my card will not be charged. Meanwhile, UPS shows my package at a processing center nearby. The package (horrible packaging, btw) showed up on my doorstep today, complete with the box set.
Getting this for free would be nice, but I have a lot of respect for the band and would like to make sure they get thier hard-earned dollars. I'll call the customer service number and see what happens.
UPDATE: Looks like my card was charged for this item, so the band will hopefully get thier money, assuming that FYE is any good at accounting.
DON'T ORDER FROM FYE. NEVER ORDER FROM FYE. If something goes wrong, there is NOTHING you can do.
