I’ve gone through the branding process for major new products over a dozen times, and I can say with conviction that no creative agency nor individual designer can do better than 99designs, not at any price. Here’s why. Typically you get one designer who works with you on a variety of concepts, or maybe if you are really intense about it you can select from the work of several designers. A great designer can design almost anything, but of course they bring their own aesthetic style and motivations to the process, including a project manager motivated to get it done and signed off as quickly as possible. So if you either get lucky or already know a great designer and have enough money and/or karma to pay them what they’re worth, you’re fine. Otherwise, you’ll end up irritated with the process and frustrated with the result, convinced there must be a better way.

Now I know there is a better way. With 99designs, you get to see not only a wide range of variation of design, but also a wide range of designers. You can create a brand and get introduced to designers you like at the same time, who then work with you to refine the winning concept because they want to win. For a few hundred bucks. In one week. It is awesome.
