Purchased a laptop bag on 11/24/11. I'd heard of Lenovo delayed shipping, but this was just an in stock bag, not a computer.

Estimated ship date was 11/30/11. Checked order status on 12/1/11, and now the ship date was 12/5/11. They can't even ship a laptop bag on time!

Called (866)428-4465 to cancel the order, was on hold for 16 minutes before I gave up. Called back and used the “change order” option, and was immediately connected.

The CSR was kind enough to cancel the order, although at first she wanted to transfer me back to the never answered cancel order line.

Good riddance to Lenovo.

One star subtracted for the delivery. Otherwise excellent. If you want the details, read on...

I bought a nice mid range gas stove from AJ Madison. Except for the delivery, it was a five star experience. I'm very happy with the product, service, order process, and their web site.

The delivery by “AM Delivery” company flawed the experience. I live in Kentucky, so picking it up myself was out of the question. During purchase, the AJ Madison website promised delivery at a time and date convenient to me. It was anything but that.

AM Delivery called my cell on Thursday or Friday to schedule a Monday delivery. I work second shift, and vacation days are scarce, so I wanted before noon delivery. Any day was fine with me, I told them, as long as it was before noon.

I was told by the AM Delivery dispatch that before noon delivery was impossible that week, and if I wanted before noon delivery I would have to wait for the following Monday.

Despite being eager to get my hands on my new stove, waiting a week was by far the best choice for me. So the dispatcher (or Customer Service Representative) scheduled me for the next Monday before noon.

Now the next Thursday comes, and AM Delivery calls to schedule the Monday delivery. There is some mistake, I tell them. It is already scheduled for Monday before noon.

I'm now told that due to the route the truck runs, that just isn't possible.

Somewhat angrily (let me be clear, I did not cuss nor say any vulgarity nor threats), I protested that I had waited my turn, the delivery was already scheduled, and I had been promised a delivery at a time convenient to me.

They relented, and said the truck would be there by noon.

Can't say I was too surprised when the truck didn't show up until 1:20PM. I called around noon to see why the truck wan't at my house, and I was told the truck was stuck in traffic. I was a truck driver for 18 years, and I know the phrase “stuck in traffic” really means “we lied to you about how soon we could get there.”

To top it off, the stove was damaged. A very small chip on the inside of the oven door, due to the placement of the chip it was obvious the oven rack had slid into the door during shipping. The box showed evidence of mishandling, it was crushed on the bottom. Appliances are very well packed at the factory, and the box should show no exterior damage at the point of delivery.

The chip was so small (about the size of a BB) that I decided to end my troubles by accepting the stove instead of refusing it as the damaged goods that it was.

I got the chip noted on the delivery receipt.

The delivery men were polite and professional, no complaint there.

I immediately called AJ Madison, their customer service was very pleasant and helpful.

They promptly sent replacement parts at no cost to me. They offered to send a repairman to install the parts, but I declined that offer. I decided that installing them myself when I find the time to do it is more convenient than waiting for a repairman who may be no more punctual than AM Delivery.

I would buy from AJ Madison again. The stove is very nice for the money. I spent a lot of time comparison shopping, and the AJ Madison deal was better than anything I could get locally. The $50 rebate showed up on time.

If I buy again from AJ Madison, I will request any delivery company except AM Delivery.

Quick Summary

Great prices, great service, great remanufactured replacement printer cartridges.

I've ordered from CompAndSave only once, but so far, I like everything about them.

My Order

Ordering was hassle free, no up sells or other foolishness. To be able to track your package, you have to create an account, which is no more than providing a valid email address and creating a password for your new account.

They accept Visa and Master Card, and I didn't bother to remember what else.

Price

I ordered eight HP carts. One HP 78, two HP 95, three HP 98, and two HP 15.

The total price for these carts in the same quantity from a well known competitively priced big box store (cough sta cough ples cough) for genuine retail packaged HP carts is $243.52 (plus tax).

The total price for the remanufactured carts from CompAndSave was $55.68. I did use a 10% off coupon code TBDEAL10. That price is $187.84 less than HP OEM retail, for a savings of 77%. Average price per cartridge for my order: $6.96.

Shipping

They sent an email confirming my order and another one letting me know the package shipped. Tracking worked fine. They ship by USPS Priority mail. Free shipping for orders over $50, flat rate of $3.99 for orders under $50. They don't charge sales tax or handling.

I ordered on a Wednesday at 7:00 PM EDT. My order shipped Thursday and was delivered Saturday. The package was not padded, but I guess carts are pretty sturdy. The carts were individually boxed and sealed in anti-static plastic. There is a nice plastic keeper attached to the bottom of the all the carts, which is more than genuine retail HP does.

The Product

Black cart refills are easy, and I haven't used any the black yet, but I assume they will work fine. If not I'll update this review. CompAndSave also gives a one year guarantee on all their carts.

I have used the HP 95 Tri-Color for my HP 2575 Photo-Smart All in One. Which is a printer that keeps track of the serial number of installed carts.

Upon installing the cartridge, the HP 2575 Photo-Smart informed me that “There is a problem with the color cartridge.” Which led me to wonder if I had been sold a defective cart. In hindsight I have to wonder if the error message was just FUD from HP; they definitely don't like refillers and remanufacturers.

On the printer I tried pressing “OK” to continue. That didn't seem to do much, so I turned it off and then back on. After a minute or two, it grudgingly said “used color cartridge installed”.

After that, the printer was willing to align the new cart as it normally would. After the alignment, I printed a test picture from my files. It looks great, and I am very happy with the results.

Final Summary

I highly recommend CompAndSave and I will buy from them again.

Chip Merchant

This is my fourth purchase from The Chip Merchant. I've previously bought two Celeron 366s (back in their heyday) and a PIII 650. All those CPUs overclocked very well.

My recent purchase was more extensive, an Abit BE7 motherboard, a P4 2.4 GHz / 533 MHz bus CPU, and a 512 MB stick of PC 2700 DDR ram. The Chip Merchant salesperson (Misty) was both patient and well informed when it came to answering my questions (on the phone) regarding things like the mainboard revision number, exact model of the mainboard (Abit made about 5 different BE7s, with a variety of features), CAS speed of the DDR, and the about the CPU (as to whether it was Boxed Retail or OEM).

All the answers were accurate, and unlike some other firms I have tried to do business with, I wasn't pressured to hurry up and order or else get off the phone.

The package arrived one day early, although UPS had worked their magic with it. It was very slightly crushed on one side. Opening it revealed no damage to the mainboard or other contents.

The mainboard, CPU and DDR all worked perfectly when assembled with the drives, power supply and case that I already had. Quite a nice step up from my PIII 650 (overclocked to 866) and all for under $350.

The system has been running for a few weeks now, and it happily overclocks to 2.75 GHz. The DDR is still at CAS 2.5, and running at 190 MHz (382 DDR) which is almost up to PC 3200 specs. And I still have not overclocked either the CPU or the DDR to their limit; I've had no crashes and don't know how fast the system will top out.

To sum up, buying from The Chip Merchant was again a good experience for me. If their prices were a little lower, they would be perfect. But I'm willing to pay a little more to be able to get a live human on the phone, especially a polite, knowledgeable, and helpful one. And they are glad to take your order over the phone, unlike some that force you to buy on a website.
