Deep Discount placed me on their mailing list and has not honored repeated requests to remove my email address from their list.

My order was cancelled as a price mistake, and while I take no issue with that, I have no desire to do further business with this company in the future. The fact that they are violating US laws governing commercial email is even more reason to avoid them.

I've done a fair amount of business with Newegg over the years, and they remain the benchmark by which I judge all other online retailers (although I actively try to purchase from Newegg whenever possible). They may not always be the cheapest, but they're dependable. They ship on time, and they have an East Coast warehouse for prompt delivery to this side of the country.

I don't often have to call them, but it's always been easy to get someone on the phone on the few occasions I've tried. I called in today to clear up some confusion about a promotion code, and the gentleman I spoke with resolved the issue immediately. I was on the phone for less than 5 minutes.

I'm even posting this review before receiving the items I ordered. I'm positive they'll be here on time and packaged well. After nearly a decade (my first order from Newegg was July 3rd, 2001) of worry-free ordering, I have no reason to expect this order will be any different.

Edit - Of course, the items I ordered arrived today (two days later) in perfect condition.

I ordered two factory refurbished Netgear wireless routers that were on sale. The order shipped a couple of days later (and funds were withdrawn from my Paypal account), and UPS dropped off the package a couple of days after that. Upon opening the package, I found a single factory refurbished Netgear router in a sealed brown box surrounded by some air-bag packing material, a cell phone recycling bag, and an eCost hotsheet flyer - no sign of the second router. In fact, a second router would not have fit inside the box with all the packing material that was included.

I called eCost. The representative looked up the order number, acknowledged that I should have received two routers, and noted that the shipping weight of the router in question was 2 lbs per item while UPS only had a total shipping weight of only 3 lbs listed. I was informed that a claim needed to be filed and an audit would need to be performed by the warehouse. I was told I would hear back in no more than two business days. I called back at the end of the second business day only to find out that no update was available. I was asked to wait one more business day. I called back a day later ... still no update. I have yet to receive a response by email or telephone as promised - all "updates" have required me to call eCost.

I've ordered quite a bit through online retailers in recent history, and I've never had an experience like this. Never. I consider this a serious issue that demands prompt resolution - my money has been taken and goods have not been provided in return. eCost doesn't seem to share my sense of urgency.
