Watch out! This service uses Paypal, and it may cost you more than you think if you use it. Also, Angieslist seems to know more about me than they should--more information than I gave them! I'm bailing on this outfit before they learn any more!

There is a signup fee ($10) to join in addition to the monthly fee ($4.25). If you select annual payment ($39), though, there is no signup fee.

I took a look at the service (email address required to just look) and decided to pass. After a couple weeks, I received an offer of 40% off, so I decided to try it. Going through Paypal, I find that with the 40% off deal, the signup fee even applies to annual membership, so you don't get 40% off the $39, but rather off of $49. I aborted the order and cancelled my Paypal account.

I went back without using Paypal, and the 40% off worked as advertised. However, when I put in my credit card info, my address and phone automatically filled in the form--but not with the information the credit card company has. Instead the info was at least eight months old. This outfit is just plain scary. Watch out!

I bought a movie by download. It took over ten hours to download via my 12Mb connection. At times the download speed looked like dialup!

Supposedly the download purchase was for unlimited use including burning to DVD. DRM, however, blocks most use, and according to WB you need a Dell Qflix burner and Roxio software to create a DVD. Catch is, Dell no longer sells that device!

The download version is only $5 cheaper than the DVD, although from the reviews I see here, the DVD might never have shipped! WB customer service does not respond to contacts via their online form, and the toll free support number is perpetual hold.

I've had this service for ten months now, and I have mixed feelings about it...mostly not so good. It is quite unreliable and goes out at least once a day, often for hours or overnight. Emails to support are little more than typing practice.

The idea is good, and when it works, this service is excellent, although some secure sites will not work with it (banks, other online login services). That part of it is OK. It's that it fails (Error code 692) way to often. I've turned off auto-renew and will find an alternative between now and the April expiration date.

This company turns out quality products at a reasonable price, except that: 1 of three times, your products are backordered--in this case nearly 60 days--while your credit card is charged immediately. 2nd, you cannot count on the final price, as it often changes by $10 or so, and their advertised specials are just ignored. Example. This order special "$5 shipping". Actual charge $24.95.

Rebate ripoff. Bought an external drive. Sent rebate within rebate period, but they found a new loophole: Rebate request must be postmarked within 14 days of purchase.

My issue is with the company. If they resort to this kind of underhanded technicality to avoid financial responsibility, do they do the same with their hardware purchases? After all, they're just a repackager of of some other manufacturers' hardware (at the lowest bid?) I suggest buying from a real company and not just a paper company like this. My drive hasn't failed yet...but it's not even two months old. There must be some reason why Buffalo is cheaper than Seagate, Western Digital, Fuji, and Maxtor!

This site is a scam. After foolishly placing an order for a set of DVDs I could not find elsewhere, and after following up on the non-shipped order, I became suspicious and starting looking for info.

These people operate under several different domain names and are in Montreal. They either (1) never ship the merchandise or (2) ship DVDs that are cheap, homemade, ILLEGAL copies of the actual product or in some cases are from VCR recordings from TV! They never issue refunds and will only suggest having your credit card company cancel the order. However, they use delaying tactics, such as order shipping notifications and other followup to inquiries, so that in many cases it may be too late to reverse the charge with your credit card issuer.

Good--not great--prices, but excellent selection including the little extra pieces one often needs but cannot find in camera stores, much less mass marketers. Customer service is simply the best. I've been buying since 2003. I've had returns of defective goods and could not be more please with B&H's handling. Their telephone customer service is superior also, with people who are quite knowledgeable of even the most obscure details in some cases.

It is occasionally inconvenient that they close for certain religious holidays, but I have to even admire them for that--that is, they regard some things as more important than profits.

First and last Tigerdirect.com order. I should have checked resellerratings.com first, but the company has been around so long... Shame on me!

300GB Hard Drive was improperly packed--two "balloons", which were punctured by the sharp corners of the hard drive blister pack. UPS compounded the problem by dropping the box over the top of a 5' fence onto a concrete walk. Hard drive broken.

Two emails and no response, so I contacted UPS Claims who in turn contacted tigerdirect. It took six weeks to get acknowledgement and a credit--for the merchandise only, and I had to eat the shipping charge. This was the fault of tigerdirect and UPS, yet I get stuck for the shipping charge. Also, too late to reorder (like I would, eh?), as the rebate expired in the interim.

This was a first order and a large order with requested overnight shipping ($175) with "Please rush, need shipping today" in the comment box. Because of the large dollar amount of a first order, I understand extra verification efforts--I would do the same. However, everything about the order said rush, hurry, ship today.

So...how did Canoga contact me to request that I verify with my credit card company? By phone? No...by email. Only by luck did I get it in time. Ordinarily I would not have in time.

This is a small complaint, all things considered, but in this instance it would have been a big problem for me, since a day late might was well have been two weeks--and not worth $175 in shipping.

I've been a newegg customer for a couple years, and have also recommended them to my clients. Now I have come across a policy which has turned me off of them for myself and for recommendations to others.

My client ordered a Sony LCD monitor. He needed it to match other equipment in the office, so he selected what looked like a beige or at least light gray monitor. When it arrived it was two-tone dark gray. Not a subtle difference in color--more like night and day--from the web picture, which is displayed front-back-sides.

Now comes the policy shock. Newegg will only accept for return a monitor with 8 or more dead pixels. No matter that it is not the color of the monitor on the website. So now my client is upset not only with Newegg but also with me. To salvage a paying client, I will buy the monitor for which I have no use at present.

I know newegg has had high ratings for a long time, but this policy makes them a stinker as far as I'm concerned.
