If you use the PalmOne/Treo branded "Stereo Headphone adaptor",
the Treo's headphone/external speaker controller will probably stop working as mine and many others (on PalmOne's own forum) did.
PalmOne will only honor WARRANTY REPAIRS
if a Service Repair Order is set-up
by the palmOne telephone Technical Support team.
The numbers for the "Support team”,
877-426-3777 AND 813 313 4913
menu – map to infinite music-on-hold with intermittent messages advising: “…..please continue to hold..”
followed with: “your estimated wait time is greater than 5 minutes”
I waited 30 minutes, TWICE, at 877-426-3777
and 30 minutes, once, at 813 313 4913.
I filled out the PalmOne webpage request for help
AND
emailed
treo.visor@palmone.com
explaining their useless phone numbers.
I received obfuscated replies telling me, again, to call
813 313 4913.
My phone has no external speaker and I'm out over $400
and 1 1/2 hours of "hold" time.
Strangely enough,
PalmOne offers to accept the Treo 600 for repair
when it is out of warranty (1 year),
thru a webpage request,
with a hefty fee for repairs
