Purchased item July 8. Received order notice same day and shipping notice the following business day.
Received telephone call July 10 from my credit card company asking me to confirm this purchase and others. The credit card anti-fraud agent with whom I spoke identified the purchase from NCIX.com specifically as suspicious due to the charge of a small amount, reversal of this charge, then charging the full amount of the purchase to confirm credit card was active.
Will not shop at NCIX in future if they do not change their card verification practices. I recommend using security services provided by the card companies themselves (e.g. Secure MasterCard, Verified by Visa) for this purpose.
Purchased item arrived in usable condition, not in manufacturer's packaging despite not having been shown on the vendor's site as an "open box" item. Item continues to be functional to date.
Delivery time was within promised parameters.
“Dear Vocal,
When you placed your order we sent a small amount of money back to the credit card to verify that the expiry date and card number were correct which is commonly referred to as a pre-authorization and is used by most online vendors. The fact that they called you to confirm such a small purchase would indicate that this is outside of your normal spending patterns and they wanted to verify this was indeed you making the transaction, this is perfectly normal.
In regards to the product you ordered, it is what is referred to as "OEM". OEM products are brand new (not "open boxed") and identical to "retail" items minus the retail packaging and sometimes cables/brackets, ect. OEM products are generally used by system builders/integrators as it allows them to bring the cost of the system down. Generally, customers prefer the "OEM" products over retail as the retail packaging brings no additional value and they want to enjoy the additional savings.
I hope this clears things up. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
NCIX.com Customer Care”
