Because they are made of cast aluminum, they will not rust and should last for years and years outdoors. They are not very heavy but there are different ways of securing the pedestal base to the ground if needed and the sundial secures to the pedestal. Looks great and at a reasonable price for a sundial and base. Order was shipped within 5 days of purchase. Minimal assembly required.
