TigerDirect's price protection and price match guarantee is a joke. I ordered an Intel Core i7 3770K processor from them yesterday because I liked how they have the price protection and price match. But later I discovered that another official authorized retailer, MicroCenter has the same exact item in stock and ready to ship or picked-up at one of their various store locations for $40 dollars less. So I called the customer service to ask for a Price Math. The lady on the phone didn't even sound like she cared, she just told me that it's too late since I've already placed the order, because their price protection is only valid for pre-sales. Then I offered to cancel the item (since it has not been shipped) and re-order the same item with the price match. So she directed the call to another guy, and I was being told by this guy that the price Microcenter has is too low that he won't do it and hung up even when they had a clear Price Match and Price Protection police written on the website. Sadly, he didn't even sound like he wanted to discuss the issue with me.
So, from my experience with TigerDirect, it seems like whether they want to honor their own policy is totally up to them. So if you ordered something with them and thinking the Price Math/Price Protection will give you the peace of mind, you're totally wrong, my friends... I shop online pretty often, but this was definitely one of the most horrible shopping experiences yet for me. So please do yourself a favor and stick with a more reputable retailer next time. One that actually stands behind their own policy.
