“I recently placed my first two orders with DrillSpot. Both orders shipped the day I ordered them and arrived the next day. The prices were the best I found, and the shipping was free. I couldn't be happier with DrillSpot! I would definitely order from them again.”

“I'm very satisfied with my purchase from UltiMachine. My order shipped very quickly and arrived only two days after I placed it. Everything I ordered was there, and it was well packed. They also included about 3 oz. of sample PLA plastic filament. I would definitely buy from UltiMachine again.

“I’ve been satisfied with eWiz in the past and considered them to be a top-notch online merchant. However, my most recent two orders with them has changed that opinion.

On a brief aside, this company seems to be going through some sort of identity crisis. I placed my orders from the eWiz Web site, but some correspondence comes from a company called SuperBiiz, and now the eWiz branding seems to have largely disappeared from eWiz.com with SuperBiiz replacing it. It’s not clear to me what the relationship is between eWiz and SuperBiiz. I’m not even sure how to pronounce “SuperBiiz.” It is confusing whether or not I’m dealing with the same eWiz I used to like so much.

The first of my two recent orders, which was for a hard drive, shipped the day I ordered it but still took a full week to arrive, which is relatively slow compared to other merchants in my experience when using their least expensive shipping option. The slow shipping wasn’t a huge deal, but the packaging also left some to be desired, considering it was a hard drive. The drive was packaged in a box slightly bigger than the drive itself between two approximately 3/8” thick pieces of foam. The packaging and drive did not fill the full height of the box, leaving the drive free to slide around between the foam layers. While this is not absolutely horrible packaging and not as bad as the hard drive packaging others have complained about recently with eWiz, it doesn’t seem totally adequate for a hard drive. Nevertheless, my drive did arrive in working condition.

My last order is where things really went downhill. A few hours after I placed the order and received an order confirmation, I received an email indicating there was a problem with my order because of a coupon code I had used. In the email, SuperBiiz went on to threaten to cancel my order after 48 hours unless I responded and agreed make up the difference for the coupon.

Needless to say, I replied to tell them to go ahead and cancel the order. A few hours later I logged into account with them and saw my order was still “processing.” I then cancelled the order myself.

The coupon was supposed to save me only $4.50. I’m surprised eWiz or SuperBiiz (or whoever they are now) would risk alienating a longtime customer over $4.50. They really don’t seem to value my business.

I wouldn’t say eWiz is completely awful; I just don’t think they are up to par with the best online merchants. I might place future orders with eWiz, but only if their price is the best I can find and significantly lower than the next lowest price. Otherwise, I’d rather deal with a top-notch vendor.

“After several orders, TigerDirect has become one my favorite online merchants. Their prices are often as good as they come, and my orders arrive quickly without hassle. My orders arrive in a couple days, even with their cheapest shipping option. ”

“This was my first order from Treadepot, and I'm very happy.

I usually order tires from Tire Rack, but the tires I wanted were on back order at Tire Rack and cost $82 more for a set of four delivered. Treadepot had the tires I wanted in stock, and I received them two days after my order with no problems or hassles. I'll definitely check Treadepot from now on when I need tires. ”

“I found Plastic Jungle a convenient way to convert an unwanted gift card into cash.

I received a Staples gift card as payment for a rebate from an online purchase from Staples. I assumed I could use the card for online purchases, but Staples neglected to disclose it only accepts gift cards at its physical stores. Since there are no Staples stores in my area, I couldn't use the card.

I considered selling my card on eBay and to Plastic Jungle. Identical cards to mine sell on eBay for about 94% of face value before eBay fees. Plastic Jungle only gave me 79% of my card's value, but I decided to use use them anyway for the convenience. My card's value was relatively small, but if it had been much larger, I definitely would have sold it on eBay instead.

Plastic Jungle has made selling them a card very easy. After creating a Plastic Jungle account, you enter your card's information (merchant name, value, and card number). Plastic Jungle gives you a postage-paid shipping label to print for sending them your card.

I received my check from Plastic Jungle 11 days after I mailed them my card. Overall, I'm very happy with my experience with Plastic Jungle and would recommended them to others.”

“After placing an order for an external hard drive with OfficeMax, I received an email confirmation that my order would be shipping. In the meanwhile, I was unable to check my order's status on OfficeMax's Web site. My order hadn't arrived after about three weeks, so I contacted OfficeMax about the status of my order. A few days later they responded that my order had been canceled because of THEIR typographical error. I never received any notification my order had been canceled.

Now, I have to go shop elsewhere for the hard drive and pay extra for fast shipping to get it on time. OfficeMax's customer service is just plain awful. ”

“I waited about a month for my order, but it never came. I filed a dispute via PayPal, and the company refunded my money the next day with no explanation about what happened to my order. I don't think they shipped my order or ever intended to.

I should have checked their rating here before ordering. This is definitely an outfit to avoid, no matter how good the deal is.”

“I placed an order with Office Depot July 14, 2009. I received an email July 16 saying my order had been shipped, and I should receive it that same day. Office Depot charged my credit card the full amount the day they claimed it shipped.

I had still not received my order as of July 21, so I sent them an email to ask for a tracking number. Instead of providing a tracking number they informed me my order would not be delivered because of a "coupon issue." They told me to place a new order. However, the coupon I used had expired by that time, and the order would have been much more expensive.

Their email said nothing about returning my money, and as of this writing, Office Depot has not returned my money.

This is just the latest bad experience I've had with Office Depot. I've had more bad experiences with Office Depot then any other merchant I can think of. ”

“I've been using Gizmo5 for about a month. I use Gizmo5 with an analog VoIP adapter to make long distance calls using a regular telephone.

My experience with Gizmo5 got off to a rocky start. It took several days for the first batch of minutes I purchased to become usable. During that time, I was unable to make calls. It was very frustrating.

However, the minutes finally became usable, and I received a very nice e-mail--not a canned response--from Gizmo5 explaining the situation. It is rare to receive such an e-mail, and I decided to continue using Gizmo5 for the time being. I found call quality with Gizmo5 to be good for a VoIP service, and the service seemed reliable.

I ran out of minutes and bought more today. Guess what? That's right, I'm having the same problem. My minutes I bought are not available, and my phone doesn't work. It is the same frustrating experience all over again.

This is a fatal flaw as far as I'm concerned. It results in gaps in service, which is not acceptable. This will be my last purchase from Gizmo5. After these minutes are used up (assuming I ever get them), I will be switching to another VoIP provider. ”

“No more expensive glasses from the optometrist's office for me!

After paying well over $200 for a pair of glasses and an eye exam from a local optometrist, I decided to see how a pair of glasses from a couple Internet merchants would turn out. Although I didn't really need another pair of glasses, I ordered a pair of $12.95 frames from Zenni Optical to see what I would get.

They charged an extra $9.00 for the strength of my prescription. I chose their standard 1.57 index lens material, which is a bit better than many others' standard index. I decided to get the anti-reflective coating for an extra $4.95, which does make a difference and was worth the cost. Anti-scratch coating was included in the base price. My total order cost with shipping was $31.85.

My glasses arrived 16 days after ordering. They were adequately packaged in a bubble wrap envelope and included a hard case and cleaning cloth.

The glasses I got from my optometrist's office had a minor scratch on one lens when I picked them up, and they cut the lenses slightly too large and forced the frames closed with a longer screw, deforming the frames. There are no such quality issues with the Zenni Optical glasses.

The glasses I got from Zenni Optical are perfect. They are even better than the ones I got at the optometrist's office. The lenses from Zenni Optical are thinner than the pair from the optometrist. I'm very impressed and very happy with the glasses I got from Zenni Optical. I wore them to type this review. I won't hesitate to order glasses from Zenni Optical again.

I also ordered a pair of glasses from EyeBuyDirect.com for comparison. My glasses from Zenni Optical cost 2.5 times as much, but they have anti-reflective coating, spring-loaded hinges, polished lens edges, and a higher lens index. The two pairs are both of good quality.

In the future I will order from which ever of the two companies has the lower price for the pair of glasses and extras I want.”

Although I didn't really need another pair of glasses, I ordered a pair of EyeBuyDirect.com's least expensive glasses to see what I would get.

Not only did they not charge me extra for my fairly strong prescription, they sent me an e-mail suggesting I choose a higher index lens material (I chose their standard material) because the lenses might be thick. I elected to stick with the standard material because I wanted to keep the cost as low as possible.

I used a 5% off coupon I found on the Internet, and my order, including shipping, came to $12.50. I received my glasses 13 days later, which isn't bad. They came very well-packaged with a lens cleaning cloth and a nice, hard case.

The glasses I got from my optometrist's office had a minor scratch on one lens when I picked them up, and they cut the lenses slightly too large and forced the frames closed with a longer screw, deforming the frames. There are no such quality issues with the EyeBuyDirect.com glasses.

Other than the rebate check problem, my order was fine. ”
