4/5

I have been shopping at Vitacost for almost 10 years, and have never had a problem with them. I don't like their advertising, because the amounts listed for their products both on their website and their product labels are "per serving" not per capsule or pill, which makes it difficult to compare different products. I am also wary because of the source of their products; ConsumerLab reported finding lead in their turmeric extract a couple of years ago, which means it is probably from the PROC. And their customer service does not respond at all to questions about product quality, at least to me. They do respond to other customer service issues, and they do resolve any issues. They are a member of the BBB. They sell name brand products at a significant discount compared to most vendors, and I continue to buy some things from them for that reason. I don't think it is reasonable to fault them, as some reviewers do, for the problems that are the result of the way UPS does business, which UPS has done to me also. The simple cure for this is to get a PO Box, which is how I get most of my vitamins: cut out the problem of UPS leaving it out for people to steal or leaving it in the hot sun to degrade in the heat. The other cure for it is something I am forced to do with some shippers when I can't avoid dealing with UPS: leave a sign on my door that tells UPS to leave a notice and hold the package at its facility for me to pick up. Looking through my file cabinet, I find order #571055 on 12/30/03 as the earliest order I can find with Vitacost, with at least a couple of dozen orders between now and then. Vitacost's shipping is very fast and efficient.
“Thanks so much George for you continued support. As you say, we “do have many items that are virtually unobtainable elsewhere.”
We get our ever-expanding depth of product selection by electronically tying together disparate warehouses. As you point out, some warehouses are faster than others.
Speed of delivery is very important, and most of our warehouses are very fast, but in the case of bulk herbs that must be packed per order from 25 kilo drums, or special ordered from a remote warehouse, a few days must be allowed for order processing. That’s how we get our depth of product selection.
Warehouse delivery speed is listed in the Shipping Info in every item description.
