I was very annoyed by my recent attempt to purchase something at circuitcity.com. The offered a free USB Network adapter. First, the shipping amount displayed at first was 0.00. Then later on in the ordering process, you had to select your shipping method, which cost 2.95 or so. Ok, not too bad; but why show a screen at the begining of the process that says there is no shipping charge? So I set up to order, for a total of 12.95 or so, with a $10 rebate. Yet I was suppose to go online and fill out a form, and then discovered the ridiculous amount of work I had to do to get the $10 rebate. What was the point of even having to go online and start the process, if you have to send all this stuff in? Then there was the "Get it now", or something like that, option on the rebate; which you would think would allow you to pay a fee to get the rebate now. But it turns out you still have to jump through hoops and send in a lot of stuff to get the rebate. I ended up calling in and canceling the order. I had no interest in a rebate process so confused, and probably designed to make you not bother or fail to fulfill its terms.
