I purchased a Professional series PYT9000 26hp tractor with snow blower, 48-inch dozer blade and self-powered tow behind rotor tiller in Sept. 09. I received a phone call from a person in the lawn and garden dept. to confirm the order and the home delivery date. I asked if the tractor would be delivered with the plow installed and was assured that the blade would be installed and the deck removed. Come Monday they showed up on time and the fun began. By the time i got outside they had the tractor parked on the lawn and were unloading the snow blower and yep...the plow still in the box. When we got to under the hood, i pulled the dipstick...not a drop or oil in it and they ran it to get it to my lawn and I am sure to load it. I had some Amsoil synthetic, put in about 1 1/2 quarts to the crankcase, and started it. The engine sounded fine and was not smoking or making any noise so i let it go. I signed off. Next day i took the deck off and three hours later, i had the plow, and all the brackets on and i was styling. Took care of the deck and tools, jumped on and it would not start...finally i just let it crank for 30 seconds or so and it went and seemed fine. I had 14 yards of loom. After riding around a bit and getting used to it, I started feeling better as it rode very nice, the controls are well laid out and it was quiet. I started on the loom and it was going fine. I started pushing it and realized quickly this was no way as solid as my 40-year-old WheelHorse. Nevertheless, I felt it would be OK. The second day out i was about done and just smoothing things out...I quickly came to dislike the plow lift as it was very awkward, Just as i was getting ready to wash it and taking the last few passes, i went to lift the plow and the lift arm BROKE right off the plow! The welds broke. Looking at it there were two small spot welds holding the arm on. I welded it back on myself and reinforced the bracket. I rode my new toy around for the next three months and liked it pretty well as i learned to work within the limits. I really liked the big twin engine, sounded cool and it was very strong. The first storm we got 8" of snow. The tractor was helpless with the blade on my 800 ft. driveway and the transmission began to get noisy. The store manager knew me by first name by this time and I called. He said it is not designed for more than 8". He recommended i put the blower on as they work really well. I spent the next day getting that done, swearing the whole time. Got it mounted and it indeed worked well...we had another storm a few days later and i had it wrapped up in three hours...great! Next storm the tractor would barely move forward after an hour or so...waited a week for a service guy...tranny was gone...a week later the guy comes and swaps it out. Sears advertises this as a "Heavy Duty" transmission. Late January the engine began smoking a little and 5 minutes later it through a rod. I am sure this was caused from damage at delivery running it without oil. Sears replaced the tractor. I sold it at a 2k loss and i will never deal with them again. Why? First off, i was told and it was advertised as a heavy duty "professional" grade tractor and it was nothing more than a 1k dollar lawn mower dressed pretty. Delivery of a 5k piece of equipment with no oil in the engine, very poor quality of equipment such as the plow and that was a 425.00 piece made out of sheet metal not to mention the tractor was not made to handle that type of work yet they advertise it as heavy duty. The manager was a nice person and did his best but the equipment he was stuck with selling was garbage. I could not get a refund, which i should have, as it would not perform as advertised. In looking at these reviews, i see i am not alone in my plight with Sears. Never again...I lost 2k plus a ton of headaches that a 40-year-old tractor never gave. This was a horrible experience overall...to save money for a year and realize you really were hosed with false marketing and quality they should be ashamed of. I ended up purchasing a five year old Simplicity Grand Sierra for the same as i paid for the sears and this one would run over the sears and laugh...its 10 times the machine. As i understand it, just about everyone who purchases a tractor from a box store are unhappy...shoddy equipment, no service and even though they may have a John Deere on the floor, it is not the same as the ones the dealers sell. I purchased the simplicity from the dealer whom always did my small equipment service and i couldn’t be happier...heck, they even come and pick it up bring it to the shop, service it and bring it back in a day or two...That is not going to happen at Sears
