This little scale WAS working a good 3.2yrs/5yrs of the warranty, then 3hrs after using it; nothing, blank screen. Tinkered around with it, exchanging 2 diff sets of working batts, still nothing...

I sent the 1st of 4 additional emails on 2-9-11, some 19 days ago! All I have received is automated responses... This "business" is a shill, it's nothing but some kind of remotely run by proxy scam. While I have had good success with the product, the money I spent ALSO paid for the 5yrs warranty they tout.

ProScale does NOT stand behind their products based on my experience.

Don't order Cheap scales! If you want a decent pocket scale prepare to spend min $10+ and start here:

I bought a black external Aluminum HD case from Newegg about 1.3yrs ago. Everything was working fine, then 1 day the device would not power on; the PSU brick apparently burnt out (I could smell the PCB). I contacted them on 2-4-11, didn't get a reply until FIVE DAYS later. Come on, I work in IT, nothing takes up that much time, that you cannot reply in 30 seconds... So finally on the 17th I get a reply in broken English (Engrish) that it's not in warranty; nothing at all helpful like "but we can replace it or you can order a new one." I even asked in the Email if I could get the PSU replaced! Now I have a worthless pile of plastic and metal all bc someone is too lazy to help remedy their lack of quality-assured products.

Really, an electronic power supply burns out in a little over a year? Utter TRASH. I would not recommend ordering anything from this shady business. Heck even their website has been down for the last 2months. I had to search for an alternative means to contact them.

Lastly: People please - STOP BUYING CHINESE MADE ELECTRONICS; the quality control is garbage! This isn't merely an opinion, it's a socially accepted reality.

Okay folks here's the deal:

I unfortunately just lost EVERYTHING! 2 HD's crashed, including my backup 500GB 5000AAKS.... *Click click click* out of the blue

So I noticed during the whole RMA process that the drive they (WD) is shipping is a 5000KS model Vs the AAKS I RMA'd. I've seen a few forums noting that the major diffs are the AAKS uses one fewer platter (160GB density) Vs the KS using 1 more and 133GB density. Also many posters reported the KS is louder and produces more heat. Having noted the platter issue that would make the KS slower also....

So after 7 emails of canned responses to my inquiry about W.TF am I being sent a different model than I ordered, I made the CALL: basically the disgruntled tier 1 told me that the ONLY diff is the KS has legacy molex power connection support. "They both have the same platter number, density, blah blah sir..." Okay fine no help there either, so I will post a few questionable links stating otherwise:

1) The 1st and most disturbing:
http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q148/JAFFA22/KS-vs-AAKS-wb.png

2) Note the complete diff case design

3) Lastly the design/temp discussion
http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=336384&sid=e09c1980adc9310eea4ce9289700dd7c

So what do you guys think - am I getting ripped, and should call up after I do some homebrew testing of my own (HD tach, etc.)?

I was on the phone with a tier 1 about it and he was getting pretty huffy about how they are the same model blah blah - and I ask then why the diffs in the drive's physical appearance, why is the PCB diff - IF they are the same drive aside from a power interface: Molex + Sata Vs Sata... It would cost too much money to retool a whole new casing and PCB IF the drives were identical just for an adapter... again he said the drives are THE SAME just the power interface is diff... Should I bother even HD-taching to see if there's a diff, or when I get the drive, immediately call up and ask to speak with a manager about getting pushed into accepting a DIFF drive than what I purchased, regardless of similarities?

If I wanted to sell these on ebay, people would immediate ask questions about W.TF are they listed as diff models etc... So I'm not buying this switcheroo either!

Well today I received my updated RMA after 7+ emails calmly pointing out the know differences, performance compros, and the issue of fraud and general bad business practice and losing customers: And it PAID off... sorta. I did get a 5000AAKS = Recertified, but I guess it's better than a slow poke Recert'd 5000KS!

I'm still debating whether or not I should take this to the major review sites: I'm betting MANY people do not know about this and would like to be informed before they purchase a WD HD....?

Good lord… This is the 2nd DOA Gigabyte DS3 I’ve received — I’m infuriated at this time! Geesh the shipping hassle and waiting and blah blah has me spending more money than my system build budget originally allowed / my client I’m (still attempting) building this comp for is pissed off b/c of all the delays…
___The RMA process was swift with the 1st DOA DS3, but the 2nd one was more a hassle: The guy on the phone treated me with this attitude like I didn’t know wtf I was doing, as if I broke it. I had to tell the dude— listen I’m an admin/senior tech at an IVY-edu. I don’t need some phone rep giving me some suspicious attitude; this isn’t my fault, and the 2nd mobo ended up having the EXACT same problems as the 1st one:

No post = Tried new CPU, RAM (2 diff brands), Vid (New)… just the bare components and it wouldn’t even post to the BIOS, nor would it beep at all with the CPU in or not / same with the ram in or out.

*oddly enough all the fans/CPU HSF/Vid card powered up, but gave no signal to my monitors… same thing for both mobo’s…

DVDRW drive: What a laugh! Tried 2 drives, both tested in another box and working—tired 3 diff IDE cables, all of them working… Neither drive would power on UNLESS the IDE cable was removed. Plugged in and neither drive would respond. DEAD mobo…

So I’m going to try a BIOstar TForce965P… but with Newegg’s shipping and Q/A I’m skeptical that it will work either. Seems like Newegg has become a hit or miss: In that they have grown to the point where quantity and RMA’s have replaced QUALITY certified products…Yeah I love the rapid RMA, but NO I do NOT like having to RMA, and WAIT another week or more for another spin at the Newegg-Roulette table…. That and if I went to a local store (rip off) and had this much trouble– I’d be speaking with a manager instantly and he’d be kissing my ass, offering some kind of compensation for the TIME/Travel/Hassle. New just assumes that it's OKAY for YOU to endure potential weeks of hassle b/c they cannot offer better Q/A vendor standards... If you’re going to sell products and continue to stock them on your shelfs… you SHOULD know if the product manufacturer is reputable and can deliver a reliable product… Gigabyte looks bad in my opinion, and so does the vendor pushing their shoddy mobo’s…. Good luck.
