I began a purchase through Toys R Us the other day. They had some special sale going on with some cheap video games. During checkout, I priced the games (including taxes and shipping) against Amazon's normal pricing and found they were actually very close in price. I decided to abandon the cart.

Well, during the checkout process, they asked me for my email. I did the usual - I unchecked their "spam me" checkbox. Like I said, I didn't even complete the purchase. Well, guess what? I've been getting regular spam for the past 2 weeks. I've attempted to unsubscribe multiple times. They said that I would be taken off the list "within 5 business days". They didn't.

I'm quite irritated with Toys R Us now. If I can't trust them with something smaller like my email address, how am I to trust them with my credit card number? Buyer beware.

I purchased the Firefly TV series on Blu-Ray through these guys. I got a pretty nice deal on it - $16.75 with free shipping. I'd never heard of 'em before so I used Paypal for the purchase (just in case they weren't legit).

About a week after the purchase, I hadn't heard anything and had no shipment confirmation. I contacted customer service by email. About a day later, I heard back that it was out of stock! They said they'd ship it out once they got it in (and that I wouldn't be charged until it did ship - fair enough). I asked if they had an estimate or any information they could give me. They said they couldn't. So, I finally heard back last week that it shipped. The disks arrived in the mail yesterday (12/09/2011 - 17 days after purchase).

Overall, I got a good deal. I'm very disappointed in their customer service though. As far as I can tell, they had no plans of telling me that they didn't have the item I purchased. I had to ask them directly to find out. Then when they were out, they couldn't even give me a guess as to when they'd have more. I got the item after *every* purchase I had made in the following couple of weeks. It was a good deal, but that's all. If you're buying with a gift in mind - buy well ahead of time! They're not crooks. They're just slow (and quite disorganized, as far as I can tell). There's a good chance that I'll buy from them again, now that my expectations are appropriately lowered - I'm willing to wait a bit if it means saving money.

Tigerdirect is one of my two favorite sites for tech-related purchases. They always have one of the lowest (if not THE lowest) prices for whatever I'm looking to buy.

Their shipping is excellent. I'm fortunate enough to live somewhat nearby so I get extremely fast shipping from them. It's common to order something with standard UPS Ground shipping at night(7 or 8 PM EST) and have it arrive the next morning (which was the case with this particular purchase as well). I don't know how they do it!

I have yet to purchase a defective product from them so I can't rate their customer service, but I see not needing to contact them with a problem as another plus as well! I'd recommend Tigerdirect to anyone looking to make a tech-related purchase.
