I ordered six boxes of 24 Attic Dek panels (modular attic flooring) from Industrial Ladder. I needed 144 panels and they were the cheapest total price from any retailer.

The order was placed on 24 April. On 27 April I received an email (from a human) that the items were out of stock; they were on order to be received in 7-10 days. I was to be updated in "the next few days".

About a week later I received a call on my cell phone. It was the middle of the afternoon and I was informed my order was to be delivered at 4:15 that day. I had made no arrangements to be home early, nor had anyone informed me my order was coming. Strike 1.

I asked the delivery man if he needed a signature. He said no, but then he said "but I can't get it off the truck myself." I have no problem with a delivery man leaving a shipment at the end of my driveway if he doesn't have the means to get it into my house, but if you need help unloading a shipment off of the truck then you deliver with two people. Strike 2.

I rushed home, had my wife rush home, and luckily we got there only slightly after the delivery truck did. It was just a pickup truck, and in the back... was a pallet-sized box of Attic Dek panels. Not six boxes of 24, but one giant unmovable box that weighed hundreds of pounds. Inside the giant box were 144 Attic Dek panels, placed rather haphazardly. There were also 144 bags of screws, seemingly thrown in randomly.

We wound up rolling the box (actually a cardboard structure with 5 sides, not 6) off of the truck as gently as possible, then pulling Attic Dek panels out one-by-one and stacking them inside my house. The bags of screws went into a bucket. I had no way to ensure that I had received the number of panels or bags of screws that I had payed for. Strike 4.

On 5 April, a few days after the delivery debacle, I received an email from Industrial Ladder: "Industrial Ladder & Supply Co. customer service is contacting you to ensure you have been contacted by a branch manager on your order. Your order has taken a little longer than expected to ship and we want to ensure you have been contacted by one of our managers on your purchase and given an estimated delivery date."

Needless to say I won't be ordering from this company again.

I ordered a Logitech G25 USB racing wheel in January '07, 2-3 months after the wheel had been released. The G25 was in stock at many online retailers, including Amazon.com, but Page Computer had the cheapest price so I ordered from them.

A few days later I was informed the G25 had shipped, but a tracking number never appeared on the Page Computer website. Eventually I contacted Page Computer and they informed me that they "were sorry, but the G25 actually hadn't shipped." They were "having trouble sourcing it" and assured me that my "credit card had not been charged. If it had, it would be refunded immediately."

My credit card had been charged, and I waited for the refund. I did not cancel my order, and waited for the G25 to ship.

After two weeks of no response from Page Computer, I informed them I would like to cancel the order, and also told them that there continued to be no refund to my credit card. After an additional week of no response, I contacted my credit card company, initiated a dispute, and got my money back.

I ordered a G25 from Amazon.com and it arrived in 3 days.
