“We appreciate your input, although please allow us to clarify your concern. You paid for the order via PayPal; with that form of payment, we were obligated to enforce PayPal policy when your purchase was fulfilled. Generally, we don't require signature confirmation for packages under $750 when paid with a credit card: however, PayPal doesn’t permit that. For any company who accepts PayPal, regardless of the business you choose from, you’ll see a signature requirement for any order exceeding $250. This is a part of PayPal's Seller Protection requirement; we invite you to contact PayPal directly to confirm these details.
We're certainly sympathetic towards your frustration, needing to be home in order to receive your merchandise; although due to of the form of payment you submitted, this was a necessary action. It was never our intention to cause you any inconvenience. If you decide to shop with us again, we encourage you to pay with a credit card to avoid this requirement. Thanks for your understanding.
Update to Customer's Second Response:
All of the details we mentioned above are accurate. Exactly as you stated, PayPal expects signature as proof of delivery in the event any buyer challenges receipt or opens a chargeback; this is why they enforce the signature confirmation on any order over $250, in order to be eligible for Seller's Protection coverage. Again, we invite you to contact PayPal to confirm these details.
Sonic Electronix, as well as the vast majority of companies who accept PayPal will not make exceptions to this requirement; it puts the seller at too high of a risk. Our website's shipping policy has literature on the subject which is available to all customers. We don't make these policies, we merely enforce them: if you disagree with these terms, you're welcome to take the matter up with PayPal directly. However, your complaint is with PayPal’s policy, not our business.”
